Review: This was the key to automating my new 8,750 watt Inverter! Here's my story - This product has been a huge game-changer for me. These 4CH Wireless Remote Control Switches could certainly be used in many different ways as they really are so versatile, but I'm going to tell you about how I used the 2 units that I bought. So, if you are considering an upgrade to your generator or inverter to make it remote control, please read on: I have a new Champion 8750 Inverter (100520). I bought it for whole-house power backup to keep everything running during a power outage. These outages always seem to happen in winter when it's freezing cold in the middle of an ice or snow storm. The last thing I want to do is to have to go outside in the middle of the night at below ZERO and mess around with the Inverter. This is also the reason why I added a quick-connect for an 14 gallon auxiliary gas tank for 4X the runtime. A lot of guys add a relay or 2 to their Inverter so that they can start and stop the machine, which is a convenience, but I went a couple steps further and could not have done it without these great little relay units. I wanted Start, Stop, a mechanical Choke for the carburetor, and Eco Mode (on and off). I also wanted LEDs for status of each action. Being able to control Eco Mode remotely is huge! In Eco Mode your Inverter runs at a much lower RPM and only increases RPMs as needed to meet a demand for more watts. So, with Eco Mode you potentially save gas, increase run time, and have less noise. Sometimes you need to switch out of Eco Mode if you are planning to fire up something in your home that has a large inrush of current. But, once that device is in fact started up and running you can switch back to Eco Mode. Why have your machine blasting away at full speed if you don't need it to? Eco Mode is GREAT if you know how to use it and even better if you can change it from the comfort of your own heated home. The other thing I wanted in my setup was to have a different colored LED for each of these 4 modes to let me know what was happening at that moment. So, I have an ON/OFF switch that has its own builtin LED to show that it is indeed power-up and ready for business. I also have 2 of my colored LEDs set to momentarily (in the relay setup) respond to Startup & Choke, and the other 2 LEDs to light up when in Eco Mode or when the Kill switch has been activated. The reason you do not want those last 2 LEDs set as 'momentary' is because you never want to start an inverter while in Eco Mode and also because you CAN'T start an inverter if the kill switch is active. So, when those 2 LEDS are off you know the machine is ready for startup. Then, once the machine is running, if I switch Eco Mode to ON, I will see a bright blue LED to let me know. With this setup of mine I did have a couple of questions for the company that sells them. They were very helpful and responded to me very quickly. I truly wish that more sellers were as user friendly and knowledgeable about their product. This was a very refreshing experience for me. By the way, this is a first for me as I have never done something like this before with relay electronics. The instructions are very clear as to how this relay device works, that they are a great value and appear to be well constructed. Obviously, I highly recommend this product and the good people who are offering it. I hope your project is a fruitful as mine was. I'll add a couple of pics of my inverter... custom wheels and all!
Review: Great Relay-Remote Combo for Upgrading Remotes - I used this relay box to upgrade from a clunky cumbersome remote to these compact fob style remotes. In my case it was easier to piggyback a relay with remotes already paired, than try to find a remote on the frequency of the old one. The old one was a custom built remote for a revolving stage, and I wanted to change the form factor, as the stage is not being used in a theater setting, but rather in a home. I've used a number of the two channel versions of this relay as well, to switch motorized drapes whose controls were once switched in-wall. The motor/track units were old Silent Gliss (from maybe the 90's), and these provided an easy way to regain control and modernize them, acting as simple dry contact relays. I'm just getting into "smart" home integrations, and it wasn't difficult to get those relays to integrate with Google assistant through the Tuya app. This relay, I don't believe has the same wifi feature, which would have been nice for me, but I bought it knowing that I could always piggyback one more to gain wifi based automations. So far, the remote works great and the relay is functioning flawlessly. I had to switch from latched mode to momentary control for my application, which I think I might have figured out through there instructions. Overall, I'm happy these things exist, so affordably, and in such compact packages. Will update if it quits working.
