The cards and the service provider are legit. I dont understand how the person complaining in an earlier review even got to speak to an agent as the system allows for agentless balance retrieval both online and on the phone. Its pretty simple. Never had an issue.

Unethical and customer hostile practices. Blackhawk is the name of the company that sells and distributes these gift cards for Visa. I bought this $100 gift card through Amazon. I used this gift card for a $60 purchase successfully. A month later I wanted to double check the card's balance, so I used the contact information on the back of the card "Cardholder services and balance inquiries". I spoke with 3 agents and a manager who all insisted they can not let customers know what their card balance is due to "card owner authentication and privacy security reasons", after I provided the card number, the card expiration date, and the security code on the card. what?! The point of a gift card is that it can be used anonymously by anyone! Please just tell me what my balance is...is it zero or $35 or what? They continued to insist that I give them my name and my phone number and my email address as if I had committed some kind of fraud.. and I started to feel like this company was scamming me. I was told by the agents and the managers that if I provided all my personal contact information they would "escalate my issue' for resolution. Are you kidding me? Why should I have to spend all this time "authenticating that I am the owner of the gift card" and haggling with your agents with the simple request for the balance on my gift card? I realize that I could simply go to CVS and use the gift card and they wouldn't ask me for my identification. CVS would either decline the card for inadequate funds or they would ring up my purchase and hand me a receipt. The reason I'm writing this review is because I suspect this company deliberately uses this stalling process to minimize customer inquiries....my guess is that a big percentage of their customers wouldn't have the time to deal with this bogus response and would simply assume that their gift card has zero balance. How many of their customers assume this and simply throw away the gift card? And guess who ends up making a massive profit from all the gift card unused balances? Blackhawk.

What's not to love about getting free money in the mail? Sent same card to two people, and both arrived next day. Both people were exstatic!
