As another reviewer related, I was able to get the switch apart and add chain but I could not get it put back together. So frustrating. So I ordered this switch for our four speed fan. It looks exactly like the one that came with the Hunter fan. If you decide to do this repair yourself, note that the black load wire (L) has less slack than the other wires. This is a problem if you cut the wires. Also, each wire is soldered a little at the end that sticks into the switch. They are hard to pull out but try to pull them out so you have their full length and the soldered ends. Make sure to take a photo of the order of the colored wires or write down which colors go in which holes. They are labeled L, 1,2,3,4. It is easier to push the soldered parts of each wire into the switch holes than newly stripped and twisted wires. Turn off the circuit breaker before you start and back on to test to s if it works before you put the cap back on the fan. We like the serenity speed. It is just enough to keep the air moving without blowing. We had the chain come out of one and could not find a 4 speed switch. Hunter would only sell us the whole inside electrical stuff, which in 2015 was about $36 plus tax and S & H. I luckily was able to fix it myself. Later we had one wear out on the inside and were able to find this one. it works perfectly. I am knocking off 1 star because it cost me over $12. Worth it if you need it though. I have since found some very cheap (3.67 each) and bought 2 for less than the price of this one. I now have back ups for when they wear out.
