I knew that for this price it was going to be great. Opening the book I felt that the paper had this very historic look and feel to it; quality was there 100%. I'm journaling my Kendo practice days in this notebook using my Lamy Safari fountain-pen, and I would say that it's doing it's job of absorbing the ink well enough. Though I've seen that if there's a little too much ink, some bleeding does take place. I recommend that you get a drier ink if you're going to use fountain pens. I'm a little OCD so I'll probably end up buying another one for my JinHao X750 fountain pen which has a more wetter ink to test if it'll be suitable for this notebook. The only critique I have is that there should really be some sort of flat cardboard or something to help the front/covers maintain that book feel. It's not flimsy per-say but it does feel like it's headed that way, there's no proper stability or sturdiness that it could have --It's not hardcovered. Otherwise, the craftsmanship is there, the leatherbound on the book so far is very good. It feels handmade and you're actually told this when you receive that package; they provide you a years guarantee along with a little tag to suggest it's been handmade.
