In a low profile situation?** A: I had to place the trap a foot or two away from the drain fixture, where I had some working room. It was a tight fit, but it worked. I looked on line and they have what they call an in-line flap trap. The trap is linear with a flapper that opens to let water out, but closes to keep sewer gas from coming back up the drain. Here is one from Oatey available at the Home Depot: "Help prevent sewer gas from entering your home while you vent your drain line with this Oatey ABS PTC In-Line Round Trap Bend Cheater Vent. Easy to handle. Oatey 1-1/2 in. ABS PTC In-Line Round Trap Bend Cheater Vent-39012 - The Home Depot Brand: Oatey Availability: In stock Price: $6.73" Google "in line flap trap" to see some pictures. Hope this helps..... **Q: Does this drain contain a built-in P trap?** A: No, there is no trap attached to this. **Q: How thick of a substrate can this drain cover. I have a 1" thick tub floor that I need to install the drain through. Will this work?** A: It has been awhile since I installed mine, I installed in a shower stall, if I remember right the threads were pretty deep, possibly an inch or better It worked great for my basement bathroom , so I did not have to bust concrete **Q: Do you use plumbers putty or silicone to seal this drain? If not, what should I use** A: Plumbers putty is okay, but if installing on any type of acrylic use silicone only. A chemical reaction with putty and acrylic can lead to cracking. ## Frequently Bought Together - BlueVue 1.5" Side Outlet Drain Assembly (Brushed Gold) - Moen Bath Safety Furniture Wood Home Care Teak Wood Aluminum Folding Shower Seat, Wall Mounted Shower Bench, DN7110 - PULSE ShowerSpas 1011-III-CH Kauai III Shower System, with 8" Rain Showerhead, 5-Function Hand Shower, Adjustable Slide Bar and Soap Dish, Polished Chrome Finish --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.uk/products/446116083-1-5-side-outlet-drain-assembly-brushed-gold](https://www.desertcart.co.uk/products/446116083-1-5-side-outlet-drain-assembly-brushed-gold) --- *Product available on Desertcart United Kingdom* *Store origin: GB* *Last updated: 2026-10-17*
