It protects my prop on my electric trolling motor so I don't need to worry about it hitting something. It very secured and tightly on the motor. I have used it a few times already and it hasn't become loose. The extra benefit is that it lies down the weeds that I might suddenly come across. So instead of the prop chewing on the weeds and getting tangled, the cage lies them down as the motor passes over them.
