Way better than reviews make it out to be. No need to look elsewhere. Crazy good microphone.
I was looking for essentially the best bluetooth mic I could get for work. A boom mic would be the minimum requirement for me, because you need the mic physically close to your mouth, so it had to be some sort of gaming headset. After that, I looked for mic sound tests and all that. So, you'll watch reviews and hear soundtests for the mic, and you'll think it sounds kinda bad on bluetooth. Plus some of the negative reviews on Amazon would make you concerned on the build quality. Even using the USB C dongle, other headsets like the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro or the Hyperspeed are significantly better. Well, take this from an audiophile: I tried these first hand and they are great. From the build quality, the mic quality and ability to not pick up background noise, all the way to the sound quality on bluetooth. I was under the impression that I was going to settle for a mediocre mic, and thankfully that's not the case at all. This mic is up there with a desktop boom mic, and sounds better than my $150 Logi Pro X. Your voice comes across clear and crisp without background noise, even if you speak at a low volume. The default EQ preset is garbage, but download the EQ app and set the preset to music or do your own custom preset, and it definitely surpassed my expectations. They also feel super solid though I'll have to break them in for a bit. So far, I love them. I'm glad I didn't go for the more expensive BlackShark hyperspeed. If these ever break on me, I'm more likely to buy them again than not. Sound clarity / definition is definitely good, comparable to quality open-backs like Sennheiser's. Sadly Razer uses a trash EQ by default, but nothing that can't be fixed by the user. These can get "bust-your-eardrums" loud, if necessary. The thing itself is not uncomfortable and does not put a ton of pressure on your skull, but with time and use it gets gradually more comfortable. I love how well-built they are. They are lightweight, but not in a cheap way. Razer is slowly earning me as a loyal customer, this is my third device from them and it's a hit like the others. First two being the Kiyo Pro webcam and the Siren V2 X mic. One tip for Discord regardless of device or headset: Disable echo cancellation, It only causes problems. The auto call switching feature is a nice add-on, and the USB-C dongle works on your phone if you want, even with a case on, as long as it's not a very thick case. 10/10, I hope Razer doesn't abandon this product line (at this price) and they continue to make newer / better iterations years down the line. EDIT: I ended up downloading Wavelet on my phone and using an AutoEQ profile specific to the 2022 Barracuda X. I couldn't be happier, sound clarity and quality improved a lot. (If you wanna do this and previously used the Razer app to set an EQ preset, go back to that app, connect the headset, and change it back to default. Otherwise the AutoEQ won't work properly).

Good Quality Headphones for Great Price!
I've been using the Razer Barracuda X for a while now, and I'm really impressed with them. The sound quality is clear and balanced, making them great for gaming, music, and videos. The noise cancellation does a good job of reducing background noise, helping me stay focused without completely blocking out my surroundings. One of my favorite features is the ability to switch between Bluetooth and the 2.4 GHz wireless connection. It makes the headset incredibly versatile and easy to use with different devices. They're also very comfortable, even during long gaming sessions, thanks to the lightweight design and soft ear cushions. Overall, I think these headphones offer excellent value for the price. If you're looking for a comfortable wireless headset with good sound quality and flexible connectivity, the Razer Barracuda X is a great choice.

Truly multi-platform, lightweight, and perfect for working/editing in a busy living room!
I’ve been daily driving the Razer Barracuda X for several weeks now, and it has completely solved a massive daily problem for me: how to edit videos or check audio on the couch without disturbing the rest of the living room. If you are looking for a highly versatile headset that balances performance with everyday household convenience, this is it. Here are a few reasons why this headset has earned a permanent spot in my daily workflow: The Killer Feature (Smart Switch): The dual-wireless connectivity is incredibly intuitive. I keep the USB-C dongle plugged directly into my tablet for editing, while the headset stays paired to my phone via Bluetooth. It handles both connections simultaneously. If a phone call comes in while I’m working, it automatically switches over. When I want to switch back or toggle between devices manually, a quick double-tap on the headset button does it instantly. It's completely hassle-free. All-Day "Dad Comfort": At only 250 grams, this headset is incredibly lightweight. Combined with the breathable FlowKnit fabric ear cups, you honestly forget you're wearing them. Unlike traditional leatherette cushions that trap heat, these stay cool and comfortable even during long, multi-hour editing or gaming sessions. Great Audio & Clean Mic: The sound profile is crisp and well-balanced for cutting video audio or jumping into a game. Plus, the detachable mic is a great touch. When my wife calls me during an audio test, the voice pickup is clear, making it perfect for quick calls or jumping on a gaming chat. The Bottom Line: Whether you are a creator trying to stay productive on the couch, a gamer looking to jump seamlessly between a console and a mobile phone, or just someone trying to keep the peace at home—this headset passes the test with flying colors. Highly recommended!

Honest review after 6 months
Alright, here I am back after 6 months of using it. I have the Razer Barracuda X 2022 white. Pros: The box and attachments are awesome ( Razer knows what they are doing), can't complain about the sound it has a solid bass, good middle and low sound, I am a musician and I can tell the difference between brands and models, this one overall is better than most of them, and it's less expensive too. It is very comfortable to use, the battery takes forever to go low and the headset tells you when to charge, like a real voice asks you to charge, it's nice (charges pretty fast). It looks great with, top-notch design (I have the white version). I can walk around the house and It works nicely, the 7.1 surround sound feature is great for gaming, I play CS GO, and if you guys know, 90% of this game is sound, If you can hear well, you win matches, I can hear perfectly and the 7.1 surround feature and it helps me identify directions. The option to de-attach the mic is also one of the reasons why I bought this specific model, I have another mic and wanted the headset mic out, it looks perfect. Cons: The white cushion that goes over the ears is starting to fade and get dirty, not sure what I can do about it, if they sell separately, or if I have to clean it myself. The headset has a feature that turns it off, (to save battery), after a period of not being used (like 2-5 min). Great, right? yeah, but after a couple of months of use, it turns off after a couple of seconds when nothing is being played and the headset is just "idle", which is VERY UPSETTING because sometimes I am just switching games and it disconnects. I have to connect again. Sometimes the razer app 7.1 surround doesn't recognize the wireless bundle that connects to the back of my pc so I have to go to my PC case, disconnect and connect again, I never used to have this problem, but now it's literally almost every time. The main reason I bought this headset was that it's wireless; now being wireless is the leading cause of my issues. Before the 6 months of use: A solid 9.5/10, can think about only a couple of things that could have been done to be a 10/10. Today, 3/11/2023, I would give it a 7/10. It's a love/hate relationship, I love the headset when it works normally, but all those issues with the wireless connection piss me off. I literally have to keep something playing all the time so it doesn't disconnect by itself after a couple of seconds. I am going to contact Razer customer service to see if something can be done to fix this issue. A replacement, a way to fix the issue, idk, something that can do to help me with this. I understand that it is a 2022 model and things could have gone wrong, but it's very upsetting that I have to be trying to fix it all the time when all I just want to sit and play something. Here's my honest review. Hope it helps.

Best Sub $100 Headset
If you are wondering if this is a good headset, the answer is yes, and you should buy it. Keep reading if you want the details. I watched hours of YouTube reviews looking for the wireless headset that would strike a perfect balance between build, sound, and mic quality. My previous set was a Logitech G432 wired headset. It suffered from poor build quality (you could hear plastic creaking when you turn your head) and the normal wired-headset issues (restricted mobility, a cable that gets tangled etc). The Barracuda X is an amazing deal for the money. - Sound Quality: Great. I’m not an audiophile, I know literally nothing about music. So if you’re similar then you’ll love these. If you know a lot about sound and music you’ll probably think they are a little heavy on the bass, but still good. at least that’s what a lot of reviews said. If you’re an average joe like me you won’t care. - Mic Quality: Awesome. I know some reviews have complained this is a weak point but I’m telling you the mic quality is stellar for a wireless set. Of all the mic tests I listened to on YouTube this set was the best. It even sounded better than some $200 sets! - Build Quality: Great. There is no plastic creaking sound when you’re handling them or turning your head while wearing them. They feel very light but still “solidly” built. They don’t look like a gamer headset so you can take them on trips or public places without worrying about standing out or looking like a weirdo. - Comfort: Awesome. I have a small head and they fit amazing. Not too tight, not too loose. - Battery Life: the 50hr battery life is no joke. I have used them frequently (1-5hrs a day) after the first charge and have not needed to recharge them a week later. - Connectivity: I had no issues using the 2.5ghz, Bluetooth, or 3.5mm jack. The mic quality was best with the 2.5ghz, and suffered a bit with the Bluetooth, which is to be expected. Summary: If, like me, you are wading through a proverbial ocean of headset options and not sure which one is the best value, then just get these and you’ll be happy. This headset checks all the boxes.

I cannot stress how awful the quality of audio these had..
Okay so... so many of these reviews talk about this headset having great audio. People who LOVE audio even say its so good... I put these things on to set them up for my girl, played a youtube video and it literally sounded like a pair of airpods playing from across the room inside of a tin can. I was insulted at the audio quality. What the hell? I've owned several Razer headsets in my time and I've never had a single one sound so utterly trash. Immediate return. The device itself? It's cute AF, she loved it, and it feels lightweight and sturdy. Though I'm sure with a non-careful hand one might snap something if they set it down to hard or yank to much to pull it off their head. Use TWO hands people. Cmon. I've seen your reviews... Everything about this item is great, except the god awful sound quality when using bluetooth. I refuse to let her experience video games and music at this poor level of quality. THAT being said, when plugging in the audio jack, the quality was slightly improved, but unfortunately only coming out clear through 1 ear cup, and half as loud in the other one, and not so improved as to be worth wearing these over some standard issue call center headset... Hmm. Literally a pair of 2005 ipod earphones sounds better. I'm returning these ones and getting the exact same pair in hopes that perhaps it is just a defective model. I will update the review to let you all know. I'll also look into whether or not it is the software drivers, which, low key hard to update as these headphones do not work with Synapse. To be fair, I didn't try all that hard to update them due to the distaste I had from hearing the initial BT quality. I work with music and audio on hobby projects so yes I know about EQ apps and the like, but I wasn't even going to bother with this particular pair after hearing the audio jack quality. Frankly you shouldn't need a 3rd party EQ app to make things sound better. They should sound good on their own, and the EQ apps can serve to enhance them if you want. Hard to enhance garbage sound quality though.. Really confusing when looking at all the glowing reviews for this product, so I'm holding out that there is hope for this purchase. We will see tonight when they show up. Razer is usually a good product. Will keep you appraised. *EDIT* 2nd pair sound more like it did with the audio jack plugged in. which was just OK. By no means amazing or great. My air pods have better quality than these. Like I said though, they are super cute and lightweight, and they earcups are comfy. I'm just disappointed in the sound. First pair was certainly defective.

Great Headphones
Razer is renowned for being among some of the great gaming tech companies, and it shows in these headphones. Quality: First up, quality. The headphones have a sleek design. They’re not the most compact headphones you could get, but they are still slim enough to store or travel with. They have a comfortable fit, and enclose my ear within the soft foam muff and padded headband. The materials overall seem really sturdy, as in they should hold up for a great deal of time — you definitely get what you pay for, in a good way. Noise Cancellation: The headphones have pretty good noise cancellation in my opinion. With the volume up to 30-50%, it’s nearly impossible for me to hear a level speaking tone beyond them. When they’re off/ sound is muted, I can hear beyond them a bit; albeit the outside world is still fairly muffled. May not be the top of the line in noise cancellation, but they still do a mighty fine job. Sound Quality: As aforementioned I keep my audio about 30-50% of the way depending on the game/ who I am playing with. These headphones have excellent sound performance that, to an everyday user and a connoisseur by no means, would argue are a close second on sound quality to any expensive headset (noise cancellation aside). Microphone (mic): The mic itself is (as far as I’m aware) a good mic. It doesn’t pick up the hum of background noise, or sound fuzzy — thanks to the padding around the mic itself. Though, because it doesn’t pick up background noise it does need to be within about an inch or two of your mouth if you’re more soft spoken like myself (maybe not so much if you’re raging on it). One minor concern I do have would be the foam the microphone cover is made of. It’s a very basic foam, so over a significant deal of time I do imagine it would take some wear and tear. One thing I do like though is that the mic is detachable. It fits into the headset pretty snug (though it took a moment to learn how to make sure I had it in all the way properly), so taking it out and replacing it shouldn’t be a huge concern in terms of it fitting back in place in accordance to wear and tear. That said, you could easily use the headset to listen to music or watch tv in your day to day as well. Alternatively of course you could still leave the mic in and bend it out of the way. Battery Life: In terms of battery life, the headset holds a pretty decent charge. I believe I’ve gone like 3-4 days of using it for about 4-5 hours on average and still not needed a charge. I haven’t tested it’s limits, but it seem to have a pretty decent battery life for those who like to have extended gaming sessions/ usage. That said, these headphones are wireless so if wireless & having to recharge headphones is not for you I wouldn’t recommend them. Overall/ TLDR: The headphones are great quality, and rival more expensive headsets at a great price for the everyday user. They were certainly worth the buy :)

A review of both the Barracuda X and Barracuda
This a review for both the Barracuda and Barracuda X I started 2 years ago with the Barracuda X on sale. It was a good value. Comfortable, sounded good enough, excellent battery life. It had a 2 year warranty, but the headband broke 2 years to the DAY I ordered it from Amazon. I literally ordered both the X and Barracuda on the same date, 2 years apart. Well done, Razer. The Barracudas were on sale, so I just decided to upgrade. I would never buy them at regular price. I like the aesthetics of not having a boom mic, as I can jump on a conference call and it doesn't look as gamy. Yes, they sound a little better, definitely have a lot more bass, and they work with the Synergy software - which, honestly, should be available for the X as well. The Synergy software was hell to get working, as it was clear my previously having another Razer headset installed screwed it up. It refused to identify the Barracudas as being set to default device, which blocked me from using the software. I saw other people with this issue on the forums and no one from Razer answered it - in fact they locked the thread. Inexcusable. IMHO, these headphone companies probably contract developers to make or modify the software, then cut them loose after launch, and I suspect they have no maintenance team to speak of until they absolutely need to do a new version. That's how support feels. As a senior dev for major mobile apps, this level of bug would not last 30 days without a hotfix. I did a dozen different tricks suggested in the forums but it was ChatGPT that bailed me out - evidently Razer has a cleanup tool to remove traces of previous installs, which allowed me to install clean and it worked. No thanks to Razer support. As for comfort, they are a smidge heavier and band a bit tighter than the X, but they are less janky and feel very secure, like part of your head. So its a tradeoff. Not having a boom mic is great for drinking and eating and in general too, although the mic isnt quite as good as the X's boom. If you are on a budget and not an audiophile, don't hesitate to get the X and save a few bucks. Its a great value. Just handle them carefully. If you can get the Barracudas on sale and have a little more scratch its your call. I would even suggest staying with these two and ignoring other brands in the under two hundred level.
