When the app says it gained communication with my Astras ECU, this reader sudenley loses connection and the cars dash pod shows the rev meter and engine temps at 0, even though the engine is not running at 0 rpm. If I try to plug this reader in when the ignition is on but engine isnt running, I get a warning to service my power stearing and ESP come up on my car dash... And then I couldnt start the engine for an hour!! After which the warnings disappeared . I found my old wired cheep OBD2 reader and plugged that in and I had no proplems reading engine codes with it.
