I will admit, it is a tight fit for FCS Brand fins to get into, I sanded the two tabs a little bit on a cheap FCS Center fin to make it a little easier to get into the adapter. True Ames fins fit in a little easier. However the adapter fits perfectly into any Single fin box (U.S. or Aussie). Worth the purchase price to experiment with **Q: Is this product durable enough to suppot a home made foil mast?** A: Sorry I am not sure what kind of loads a mast puts on a fin box but if other fin boxes can handle it, so can ours. **Q: can you tell me the width of the opening of the fin box?** A: The slot that accepts the base of the fin is 1/4 inch wide. The center slot that accepts the metal pin is 9/16 inch. Not sure if that is what you mean by "opening".
