I then let it sit in the refrigerator sealed up tight in the container for 24 hours and it comes out great. I’ve had a little bit of sediment at the bottom of the pitcher at first but that was because I was not grinding the beans course enough and I was shaking it too vigorously. I find that it still brews great just every once in a while, tilting it upside down and right side up a few times every couple of hours. All in all I think it’s a great product and I’m planning on buying another one so that I can have one brewing while the other one is all ready to drink. I followed the instructions to make coffee, I even saw videos for different coffee brews but honestly.. it just tastes the same. The first time I shook the bottle to mix the coffee grounds and kept shaking a couple of times through the day. But half of my coffee grounds were dried inside the bottle when I removed the filter the next day. Th second time, I halved the quantity but it just doesn't taste as good. To me it just tastes like left over cold coffee from a coffee pot. The handle absorbed the smells from the fridge as well. Or it could have been the handle rubber/silicone chemicals? Also, it will leak when you shake it... No matter how hard you tighten it, mine kept leaking by the lid for some reason. Overall, great idea... If you know what you are doing. I bought this to replace my $20 coffee pot... Cold brew, at best is about $4.75 on sale for 48 ounces; $5.50-$6 every day price. This seemed like a cheaper alternative. At first blush this seems cheaply made. When full the handle flexes as if it might break- an uncomfortable feeling. It is rather a PITA (pain in the a**) to use. I stood the filter assembly with its extension in a tall glass for filling. The process seems cumbersome and requires attention so as not to spill coffee all over the counter. Additionally it's advertised as a 2 quart maker. Imagine my surprise when the instructions say add 7 cups of water...ah folks, that's not 2 quarts. Not to mention that once I put the 2 cups of coffee into the filter basket and tried to insert the filter basket into the carafe I was forced to dump out about a cup of water to prevent overflow. So it's really a 6 cup brewer. And it takes 2 cups of ground coffee. I use Walmart 100% Arabica French roast, $20 for 2 pounds. So now I am making 48 ounces, $4 for coffee, the inconvenience, and I have 24 hours until the taste test. If it is somehow super- amazing I will update my review. My takeaway thus far is that Califa Farms Cold Brew- which offers at least four options, on sale for $4.75 is worth the convenience (no assembly OR cleanup or waiting) is more bang for the buck.
