It will darken to a very dark brown, enhancing it's nonstick capabilities & overall performance. You can hurry this along by either baking something very greasy like cookies or just rubbing the surface with some oil & baking empty for awhile on a higher heat. Only clean stones with very hot water and a scraper or stiff plastic spatula by 'pushing' any food off the surface & rinsing. It should be removed pretty easily, especially as it darkens over time. NEVER use soaps unless you want soap flavored food! If something bad gets on your stone, you can rub on a paste of baking soda & water. Or place it in the sink, sprinkle on baking soda & pour some vinegar over it to really get down into the pores. Though these are always advertised for pizza, they are great for anything you want to bake!
