Will it work on ICOM PCR-1000? Thanks.** A: Don't remember if there was a small driver CD included. Doesn't matter for standard Windows OS, as it will find the driver autmatically on board or over the web. No idea if it will work on the device you listed. Sorry **Q: Does this work with RS485?** A: Yes it works very well. **Q: Will this product work with Windows 8? FTDI has Windows 8 drivers for some of their products but I don't know what FTDI part number this product has inside.** A: I am using three of these with Windows 8 and have no problems. I plug them in and they install themselves. I then go to the device manager to see which com port they have installed themselves under. **Q: Hi, does it also support DTR on Pin4 ?** A: I have not investigated the pin-out signals. They do not appear to actually have the FTDI chipset as their product description shows. I have other FTDI cables and such and the hardware ID includes "FTDI" with those, not with this adapter. Windows 7 had no trouble getting the driver automagically. Here's the scenario: I have an older programming cable with DB-9 to 3.5mm 3-conductor plug. I've used it on many PCs with various Windows operating systems to program Icom, Yaesu, and Kenwood radios (with proper 3.5mm to various adapters) with legacy serial connectors, or more recently, a Lenovo T400 with a 2504 docking station with DB-9 serial connector.I could not get any Prolific chipset USB to serial adapter to work with my cable on a Lenovo T410 running Windows 8.1. This adapter is recognized by both the T400 and T410 by Windows 7 and Windows 8, respectively (no need to use the driver CD).
