The material is soft but a little scratchy but that doesn't bother me personally. It works perfectly with my Logitech MX Master mouse with no lag / loss of connection. For those people who are stating it takes a while for the mat to be flat, please read the instructions as you can iron the mat safely and it removes any small creases that may be in it plus makes the mat perfectly flat right out the box. My only (very minor) complaint is that the edges of the mat aren't very smooth so if your bare forearms are resting across the edge, you can really feel the edge on your skin. I suspect the edges I come into regular contact with will soften over time so it doesn't bother me enough to take a star off my rating. The packaging I'll just mention wasn't anything I've seen in other reviews images so I think the factory ran out of boxes lol, anyways, the mat itself feels really nice, again I saw other reviews saying it was a bit scratchy but I don't think so, it's fairly soft to the touch.
