## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is the bottom of the bag padded? I know the interior walls are, but is the bottom part of the bag/laptop compartment padded to protect a computer?**
A: There is some padding at the bottom but it's not substantial enough to, say, drop your laptop-filled bag on the ground. I have been lugging a 15" Macbook Pro in the bag for a couple years now and I feel it has protected the computer pretty well. I do make the effort to set down gently. Hope that helps!

**Q: Whats the difference between this and the5.11 tactical rush delivery mike messenger style bag**
A: The difference between the MIKE & LIMA Messenger Bag is the size. The MIKE has dimensions of 11" H X 14" L X 2.5" W. The LIMA has dimensions of 11" H X 17" L X 4" W.

**Q: How well does this protect a laptop vs a pelican? Like the options but dont want to sacrifice too much in protection.**
A: You're comparing apples with oranges. Pelican is a hard sided case, so naturally it has more protection than the 5.11 Tactical Rush, which is a soft sided case. For most everyday use, the 5.11 will protect your laptop. If you're going to put it thru extremes, I'd go with the Pelican.

**Q: Could i use this as a carry on?**
A: I just came back from a month in Europe and I used this as the day bag for urban and rural hiking, and carry-on for Ryanair and Air New Zealand...and had a small camera bag as well- no problems. Fits the smaller carry-on size restrictions well for the overhead. Likely won't fit under the seat in front- it is a larger bag- they make smaller ones that might.. No one asked the weight.... This thing is amazing and has ore pockets than I knew what to do with- I had a laptop, 2 iPads, brit and euro plug adapters, chargers, about 10 reference books, 2 sketchbooks and about 30 pencils/pens I sketch a lot.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best bag, even better than the Envoy
*by B***S on January 8, 2014*

Ok I have a obsession with finding the perfect bag for everyday carry. After going thru about 10 different ones, the 5.11 Lima bag is as close as I could come. Not perfect but close. Two things about this bag I do not like.1. It does not have a zipper on the top. To get to anything inside you need to open the flap and put it out of the way to get anything out of the middle of the bag. The Envoy has this feature and its great. Saves a lot of time pulling open that velcro and getting it out of your way to get anything out of the inside. If it just had that feature I would give it 9 out of 10, but it does not. I'm gonna see if I can find a place that will put a zipper in the top.2. The inside is black. You cannot see whats in the pockets or the middle. Envoy bag is orange, making easy to see anything you have floating around inside. If your like me you have to dig around to see where you put things. I try to keep them in the same place but it just never happens.3. Ok and one more thing. The back zipper where you have your concealed weapon, why do they have to put velcro on it? Its a two step process to get to your gun. Hard enough getting the zipper open far enough to get your hand it their, but then you have to rip open that velcro too. And it makes a heck of a noise. Your never gonna slip your hand into the opening just in case without letting everyone know your up to something. Ya I really hate that. The velcro is stitched so do not try to remove it. I found some velcro strips I could put over it so it does not stick. Dumb, really dumb.Ok, so those are the things I do not like. Its a nice size, just a little to big by only about an inch. I had the 5.11 Mike bag ( same thing just 15inches long instead and not a tall.). My phone would not fit into the front pockets, they were to short. Once I had it packed to kinda got a little to fat.Pockets and such are fine. Easy to carry if just a little to big. But the Envoy at same length 17inches ended up being to wide. You could really stuff a lot of stuff in it. I got the insert with compartments for it and that made it even wider. To bad they do not make an insert for the Lima bag but just not so wide. I like keeping everything in its own little space so its easy to find. I guess I will have to make one for the Lima bag.I really do not like all that mole stuff around the front and sides. Would look better without it, and not so tactical. Here is what I carry just to give you an idea what all you can carry.Kahr PM9 semi auto with spare clip ( in the back attached to velcro )Pepper sprayPolice batton 9in extends to 25Samsung Tab 2Multi toolMilitary grade knife 8inMeds in little plastic casesPhoneExtra battery for phone2 chargers ( phone and tablet )Glasses and sun glassesPad and pen and markerRed Line flash lightIpod and headphonesWorkout glovesRain coatMatchesProtein barsWalletSpare changeHidden cashI can still put a water bottle or protein drink or two in the ends.Thats about it. It is still not that heavy to carry over the shoulder or cross carry.Nice big padding on the strap that moves easly depending on where you carry.Over all if it were not for those 3 things it would be perfect.I have tried to get the the makers of the Envoy to shrink it down a bit , then I would definitely take that bag. But they said it was not in the works at this point. i suggested they put me on their development team, but no such luck.So in the end if you want the perfect bag and do not mind the extra size of the Envoy they thats the best. I did carry it for almost a month and everything was great but I just could not see myself being able to carry it everywhere without getting a lot of attention.By the way. One other thing. On all of these bags, I never found one that had a side zipper that would let you get to your gun without having to go thru the top. If it was on the side it would be very quick to slip your hand right into the opening and have gun at the ready. To have to pull the bag around in front of you and unzip the top/back zipper and stick your hand in to get to your gun is not a very good way to go. Trust my I have tried and their is no fast easy way to do it.So thats it. Best advice I can give is order it a try it to see if you like it.Thats what I did and I just kept sending them back after I tried filling them up and carrying around for a few days.Bill,

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good SBR / Active shooter bag
*by A***R on December 9, 2015*

I was looking for a way to transport an SBR without it looking like I was toting around a rifle. This has become my favorite gear bag. I am running a 10.75" PWS SBR with a law tactical folding stock adapter, Silencerco Trifecta brake, Troy folding BUIS, Aimpoint, Streamlight TLR-1HL mounted on the left side of the rail, and full 30 round mag. I leave a magpul MS3 sling attached also. It just barely fits in this bag in the folded position. I tell you all these details, because it is the type of info I was looking for before ordering this to know if my gun would even fit. I took a chance and ordered it and hoped for the best. The gun barely fits right side up and tends to hang on the material when I go to pull it out. I found that by stowing it upside down, I can just grab the grip and it will come right out. If you have a 7.5" PDW with the folding stock, you will be good to go with this bag. A 10-11" folding SBR is going to be the max that will fit. If 5.11 would make a few modifications, this bag would be perfect. Now, I look like a yuppy nerd with a big laptop case instead of a guy lugging around a tactical backpack with a rifle in it. I have three complaints. First, the bag needs a solid bottom, or something inside it to make the bottom stiff where it will stand up when you set it down. The other complaint is that there is really not enough padding for the laptop. It is not a lot of protection. I will be adding some type of padded sleeve for the laptop. Third, I wish the top did not fold over and latch on the bottom. It really needs a zippered top to access the main compartment. It is almost impossible to reach the latches, lift the cover, and deploy the SBR while it is on your body. It can be done, but you will not set any speed records. There is a zippered compartment on the back, but I don't fool with it because there is so much velcro in there that I can never force it open to get what I need out of it. That compartment will probably get modified to suit my needs. I think that compartment is designed for a handgun, but I don't use it that way as my handgun always stays on my body. I can also stow a water bottle or radio in each end. In addition, there is plenty of room for extra 30 round mags, a few glock mags, handcuffs, etc. This thing gets really heavy when loaded down but is manageable if you wear the strap across your body. If I ditched the laptop, I could probably get an armor plate or two in there also. I never thought I would be carrying a "man bag" but this is the solution I was looking for and I have tried all the other SBR bags out there. Now that I know I am keeping this, I will be carefully cutting off the 5.11 rubber patch that is in the lower right hand corner to make it even more stealthy. Some molle webbing on the inside would have been nice also. I hope to get morale patch for the front that says "Dell", "HP" or something that makes it look even more like laptop bag. I am still trying different positions / locations for the gear to see what I like the best. The Velcro across the flap works good for quickly deploying and affixing a large ID patch.
