## Description

Do other games leave you feeling... empty inside? Try Cult Following: The One True Game! Cult Following is an irreverent storytelling card game where you make ridiculous cults using cards from the deck and your own creativity, then pitch them to your friends. “Monsters under the bed are real! They think people are food and our children are not safe! Our cult will protect your kids by putting live bears into every children’s bedroom, so you can rest easy!” Players take on the role of either Cultists or Recruits. Cultists take ideas from the deck and bind them together into a ridiculous story, which they pitch to the other players. Recruits ask questions from the cards to help them figure out which cult is right for them: “What should I bring to my first cult meeting?”, “Which cult at this table is your worst enemy, and why?” or the all important “What’s in it for me?” This game is about being creative and having fun with your friends. Cult Following requires no setup and can be played in rounds of about 10 minutes. For three or more players ages 14 and up.

Review: Great, creative game with simple rules - I purchased this game as something to play at parties with my friends. Many of them are non-gamers so I wanted something that would be easy to pick up but still be engaging. Cult Following fit the bill perfectly! I was a little nervous how my friends would handle it since this is very much a talking game but everyone had a good time and even some of the shy folks took a stab at being cult leaders and created fun stories. Some of the combinations that you can create are just so wild and you get to see a lot of personality come out in your friends! We still talk about each others cults so it created some fun inside jokes as well. Examples of our cults after one night of gameplay: "A cult whose leader is a cactus with an extensive Twitter following that is trying to impersonate a human, if you join, you get your very own spaceship!"; "The rock banging cult where all recruits are given two rocks to bang together eternally with the hopes that they will discover spontaneous combustion." "A cult that protests broadcasting stations of TV shows that were cancelled too soon (RIP Firefly)" , and "the bubble cult where every member is protected from an apocalypse caused by treatment-resistant bacteria by living within their very own bubble" Seriously, try this game!
Review: Fun for the whole family! - This game is fun to play for my family of 4 (my husband and I and our two kids- 18 & 14). Everyone gets into it and we laughed a lot! We also took this over to my parents house and they both got right into it and were laughing themselves to tears. SO MUCH FUN!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are there any cards that are dirty? Is it a game that can be played in relatively decent company?**
A: I think it would be labeled as an “adult”, “sexually explicit” or “NSFW” if it was dirty. There is a game called “Pick Your Poison” which is family friendly. However, there is a 2nd version, “Pick Your Poison NSFW”, which looks VERY dirty (judging by the cards displayed in their ad. So be very careful when selecting any type of card game played by a group. I’m pretty sure you’d be safe with any of the “Uno” variants, but these days, who knows - some twisted & greedy exec may feel “Uno” is missing out on the profitable 18+ demographic and attempt to sexualize it someday.

**Q: can you play with 2 people?**
A: Unfortunately, no. The game requires two people to pitch cults and one person to ask questions.

You can get some practice pitching cults with a friend (Tom and I have done this and it's still fun), but it's not the full game experience.

Note that the third player doesn't need to be a storyteller - they just need to ask questions and pick which answer they like the best, so you can play with players with different comfort levels.

**Q: What is the maximum number of players for this game?**
A: Short answer: 5 or 6 is an ideal group size.

With more players you may want to break into teams (with 2 people pitching the same cult). Or take turns - the rounds are fairly short.

We've done both approaches and entertained a room of 40+ with 4 teams of 2 people.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun for the whole family!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great game that just gets funnier
*by S***N on May 20, 2018*

I discovered this game because the expansions are on Kickstarter, I had to investigate this game as soon as possible and let me tell you it killed. We played it for hours and now I’m oblagationally bound by several friends to bring it to upcoming events this summer. We definitely added some drinking rules when playing it with just adults but the game was still fun when playing with all ages. The only downside is that now we’re desperate for those expansion packs that we originally saw on Kickstarter but that’s just because we can’t get enough of this game. One of the best things is the more you play the more comfortable and quick you become on creating cults and the funnier it becomes.
