CAP Rubber Coated Dumbbell Weight Set with Vertical Rack | 100 lb, 150 lb, and 210 lb Options

The best weight set out there! I have had this weight set for just under a year and I use it religiously. When it came it was so easy to setup and put together, although they smelled kinda funky for a week or two but I promise it goes away. These are solid weights, good quality, and I even got my sister to get the same set. They’re truly the best!

This is a really nice dumbbell set! They look just like pictured. The stand is easy to assemble, very sturdy and maximizes efficiency of storage space. The hardware and an Allen Key are included but you'll need something to grip the nuts -I found that a 13mm ratcheting wrench works great but a 13mm regular wrench would be fine as well. You could use a socket but the risk of over-torquing the bolts becomes a factor. The grips on the weights are ergonomic for med to x-lg hands and are knurled for a safer grip. I think even small hands would not have a grip issue. The stand is designed so that the weights are easily removed and replaced with ease. The dumbbell weighted ends are rubber coated for safety (though I strongly recommend against a drop-test with your feet). I am very pleased with my purchase and look forward to the reward of improved physical fitness in the coming months and years. I highly recommend this dumbbell set!

These are an excellent value. Shipped in 4 separate packages but everything arrived in perfect shape. For the cost I was surprised at just how nice the finish is on the handles and the rubberized coating on the ends seems quite rugged and actually looks nice. I didn't find the oil on them to be anything that couldn't be wiped off with a rag in a few minutes. While the rubberized coating on the weights does smell like a tire shop, I feel like the reviews stating how strong the smell is are wildly exaggerated. Some might actually like the smell of a tire shop anyway. I'm positive this will fade to nothing over the course of several weeks of use. The stand assembly is pretty quick and painless - although as others mentioned having either an adjustable wrench or a 13mm (I think that's what it was) dedicated ratcheting wrench make assembly a breeze. The stand is a very welcome addition at this price point and keeps the weights nicely organized. I can't imagine finding a better value for a new set of dumbbells.

As others have mentioned, these are shipped in three boxes of weights at 50# each, and one narrow box that holds the stand. In my case, while extremely heavy duty boxes were used, and well taped, one of the boxes was sliced open and minor damage to rubber ends of DBs in that box occurred. Looks like it was slid over something which cut it through. In any event, 2x5, 2x10, 2x15, 2x20, 2x25# DBs are included, making this an excellent "base" set. Handles are knurled and as expected in diameter and abrasiveness. No gloves required, but your mileage may vary. Is there a smell? seems to be the burning question. Of course they have a smell. They were just born of chemicals. They smell like what they are: rubber. So if you have ever had a new bike tire in your house, that is the smell, multiplied by a few pairs. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, and I was able to start using right away. I cannot relate at all to folks who seemed like they were going to swoon after opening the boxes. NOTE: I "washed" these with dish soap and water before using because they are covered in manufacturing residual dust etc. and will make your hands filthy otherwise. Mine did *not* have any kind of oily residues, as others have mentioned; again, just new tire smell, which for me is not obnoxious. But hey- some people think cilantro tastes terrible, so there is no accounting for taste. NOTE #2: Unlike the way Amazon's own brand and some other DBs I have purchased are wrapped, these were just loose in the box. No Styrofoam, no placement in a baggie, nada. Just in the box. So they are not going to be 100% brand new and flawless looking when you take them out. Get over it. They're dumbbells. They'll look like that in a couple months of workouts anyway. Also, because there is no protection, be judicious in opening the boxes. Just slice around the tape so you are not gouging a chunk out of your new best friends. I got these for basically a buck a pound, which is what weights were before Covid, and what they should be anyway, and held off on buying them until I hit the sale amount. Having said that, they would still be worth it for the $200 amount too, of course, just slightly less of a bargain. As has been mentioned by other reviewers, the A-frame is easy to put together, but will take your fingers off if you are not watching what you are doing when replacing the weights onto the rack, something which was also true at many gyms I have used and is a bug and not a feature of this style of rack. Definitely recommend, and would purchase again. Plan on augmenting with additional weights and eventually using a horizontal rack for all of them, but this was a steal-- and delivered on top of it. I am keeping the boxes. These are some of the heaviest duty boxes I have had sent to me. You should keep them until your return date is over anyway, in the event something untoward happens and they need to go back.

These dumbbells are pretty nice and the model I bought with chrome handles is a great buy at about $1.30+/lb including the rack. Oddly, other handle options were way more expensive, making the value assessment for those styles less positive. Assembling the rack was straightforward- do it on a level surface like a concrete floor- and the steel construction is sturdy and compact. The notches that hold the weights are edged in rubber . They include a few extra pieces of hardware which is really appreciated. I would advise purchasers to unpack outdoors as the dumbbells come in 3 heavy cartons plus a fourth for the rack, and the rack carton had large oil stains on it. The dumbbells stink to high heaven of rubber and machine oil. Washing them helped some. The rubber coating seems to be just that- rubber- and not neoprene as on competitors. That's OK if you aren't latex allergic (synthetic rubber wouldn't be a problem in this regard, presumably). Neoprene is also more durable, less likely to mark floors and smells better, but is also more expensive to make. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with these and would recommend them to anyone looking for a very reasonable price on new dumbbells. UPDATE: I initially thought the dumbbells smelled better after I washed them with dish detergent. I was wrong. They still reek. I hope the smell dissipates eventually.

This is a great dumbbell set for a home gym. The rubber coating feels durable and is much nicer than having bare metal weights banging around. May 22, 2024: First of all, the reviews about the smell are 100% true. These weights really stink of chemicals and rubber! I don't know how long it will take for the smell to go away, if it ever does. If the smell is still here in two weeks, I’m definitely returning them. I wiped all the weights clean and you wouldn’t believe how dirty my rag got! I think this helped with the smell a little bit too. The best way I can describe the smell is like when you go into a car tire shop and it smells like rubber. That's exactly how these weights smell. The order came in 4 boxes. The stand was pretty easy to put together, however, you WILL NEED a wrench. Someone in these reviews said the bolts are too small, but that's not true! You need to use the wrench and the metal tool they give you to firmly and strongly turn the screw into the bolt. With some patience and a bit of strength, the screw WILL go through the bolt all the way until it’s securely fastened. Many of the weights have a little crack or separation between the rubber and the metal handle (she photos). Not sure if this is a manufacturing problem. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase and give this product 4 out of 5 stars. I will edit this review in two weeks to provide and update on the chemical/rubber smell!! June 25th, 2024: I tried posting and updated review, however, my review WOULD NOT POST! I tried updating and submitting the review over 5 times and it never updated/posted. I had to delete my original review and repost. Anyway, here are my final thoughts: Unfortunately the smell has not gone away :-(... it is still pretty strong too. I now understand what folks meant by how awful these dumbbells smell. The tire/rubber/chemical smell is so strong it makes my head hurt. I've tried everything, wiping them down, washing them, disinfecting them, and leaving them outside to air-out. I friend told me to "use them and the smell will go away." I did. Nothing, absolutely nothing hasworked. I am beyong disappointed because I really liked the weights overall but the awful smell is a huge deal breaker for me. Someone mentioned that the weights will make your entire house smell like chemicals. They were right! I left our workout room door open and the entire house smelled like rubber after 30minutes. Finally, apparently you can't drop these off at an Amazon warehouse. You have to schedule for someone to pick them up which is a plus. July 1st, 2024: My spouse refused to return the weights. It has been over a month and I can now say the smell is FINALLY going away. My teacher have gone away too. The smell is very minimal. I've used the weights several times and they meet my expectations. However, the smell ordeal always incredibly annoying; because of this, I'm giving this item three stars. (Great product.) I got it when it was on sail for $211 . It came in 4 seporate orders. The first 3 was the weight and the 4th was the rack. It came 1 week early no missing peaces un damaged . Does have a funky smell at first but it goes away . The rack is verry sturdy . I've read lots of reviews saying missing peaces weights damaged and verry shaky and cant tighten screws all the way . (You can )you just need a wrench or plyers. Witch unfortunately it doesn't come with . But all in all a great product for the price 5 star review .
