My 2 year old grandson was startled hearing his voice but now he loves using it at story time and during his normal day of play talking to his toys. The child hears his pronunciations and you can repeat the words correctly giving him immediate feedback. It's important so you aren't trying to reteach it later. Like any device or toy it's important for adults to participate.
