These do not increase space in your closet. I bought these for that purpose, to hopefully gain a few inches here and there so I could hang up new clothes. These don't create more space. They actually make it even more frustrating to take clothes out. I spent a good hour setting them up, tried them out for a month, and spent another hour taking them all down and putting my closet back to its original set-up. But the product is sturdy and able to hold 7 skirts easily (I hung two skirts at the top and bottom locations).
