Review: A Lot of Power in a Small Package - This is a versatile amp and effects modeling processor in a package not unlike an iPod classic. It is smaller than an average guitar pedal, and doesn't really work as a pedal, itself (there is a linkable footswitch, but I don't have that). As far as onboard controls go, there is a button to switch between the first four presets (which can be your presets if you overwrite those slots), and a jog wheel for volume control. You long press the button to turn it on and off. When paired with an app, you get a lot more controls. There are a wide variety of amp and effect emulations, and I appreciate that you can move the order of the models around. In particular, I like the ability to run compressors, delays, and modulations either before or after the amp emulation. It worked well for playing with headphones right out of the box. I tried it through a Marshall half stack, both through the clean channel on the front end, and through the effects loop. It worked better through the effects loop with the amp and cab emulation, but had a lot more bass than I wanted to start with. After poking around the app a bit, I found a setting to run it that way, and it was much better. I am not sure I would use it that way all the time, because I have a lot of pedals. I think I might use it more as either a portable practice tool, or most likely, as a portable effects source for portable synthesizer jams, for which it is very well suited. I appreciate that the initial sound you access by default is a restrained clean tone with some delay, which sounds great on any synth (I mostly tested it with an Arturia Microfreak). When you dig into the app, there are a variety of effects that are rather more suited to synthesizer sounds (in particular, ring modulation and an automated filter sweep), and the touch screen interface works on those better as something you are going to adjust in real time. I find the range that many of the effects rather too large for many classic guitar sounds, but as sound design tools for synthesizers, they are pretty great. The internal battery works well for DAWless jamming, since it doesn't need to be plugged in like other effects pedals, so it's a lot less fiddly for that. With just USB power supplies for synths, you can be ready to go. The app also features onboard features like bluetooth audio streaming, drum patterns, a tuner, and a metronome, which can be handy for both practice and creative routing solutions. I have recently tried some other products like this, and while this one is more app-based with fewer controls on the actual device, but as an all-around solution for creating my own sounds in a variety of situations, I like this one. Other ones designed to plug into guitar jacks provide similar sounds and features, but are a bit fiddlier to use in effects loops and for synthesizers, and I think that is where this one shines.
Review: LOVE IT! - I am thoroughly impressed with the Mooer Prime p1! This will prove to be an indispensable tool for me. It has so many possible uses and simply sounds really amazing. I can use it as an entire rig (electric guitar, bass guitar, or acoustic electric) straight into my computer’s recording interface via 1/4” cable. I have also tried it in front of a traditional amp for using the dynamics, overdrive pedals, or even some of the modulation effects. I also like the results using it in the fx loop of the amp (after the preamp and before the power amp), getting some cool delay, reverb, and modulation after the preamp. And of course it could be used right into a PA at a live show. Or play it into headphones. What a useful tool! I really love that I can use it for not only electric guitar but bass and acoustic-electric as well. I think the Prime p1’s preamps and cabinet simulations sound fantastic, and there are a plethora to choose from. All of the effects sound great and can be arranged in whatever order you like. The iOS/Android app is very easy to use and connects to the Prime p1 via Bluetooth seamlessly. Within the app, you’ll have complete control over your setup and presets, and there are some other handy tools, like the looper, tuner, and drum machine. There is also direct recording into a mobile device via USB (haven’t tried that yet, but maybe I’ll use that feature one day as well). Be sure that your Prime p1 is on the latest firmware (go to “P1”, then “Settings,” scroll to bottom). The Prime p1 is a fantastic device that I would recommend to any guitarist or bassist.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Hi, sometime for no reason the p1 will not power off. anyone else having this problem?**
A: This has happened to me twice and both times, I just let it sit out on the counter overnight and then charged it back up the next morning. Never got an answer from Mooer or other forums, but each time it booted up with no noticeable issues.

**Q: Could the app, much like tiktok, owned by China, get banned in the US for doing more than it should with your phone?**
A: Anything is possible.

**Q: Can this be connected directly to a new ipad air with a usb c to usb c cable for recording in garageband, and act as a stand-alone interface?**
A: How did this end up working out for you? The response seems off

**Q: Can I connect multiple of these to the same device/app?**
A: I believe you can switch back and forth between devices, but only one can be used at a time on the app.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A More Than Adequate Amp Sim Device With A Few Other Features Up It's Sleeve
*by W***. on June 11, 2025*

The M2 Prime is a amp sim with some nice features. Does it match up to a Neural DSP or Fender Pro Master? No, but at this price point that was not my expectation. The majority of the presets were not to my taste but when I integrated it with the Prime app on my iPhone I was able to build out a number of satisfying amp and signal chains with the expediency of the phone’s touchscreen. Most of the amps and IR’s were of the high gain sort but I was able to dial in some cleaner style amps. The pedals offered up are adequate with several choices for dirt, boost and fuzz, modulated chorus, tremolo, phaser, flanger, and assortment of delays & reverbs. The one featured pedal I’m so glad they included is a noise gate which is a godsend if you are using single coil pups. The M2 Prime also has a small touchscreen that has a little less functionality than the Prime app but allows you to bring up a tuner, drum machine, volume adjust, and a looper that integrates well with the two foot switches. The bluetooth pairing works well and a USB C port serves for both charging the battery and On The Go recording. I typically get several hours of playing with a full charged battery and my MacBook recognized the M2 as an ASIO interface. My iPhone 15 with USB C port however does not recognize the M2 as an interface and throws a pop up stating the device draws too much current. Other than that little hiccup this is a very satisfying amp sim device for it’s price.
