Do they tear easily?** A: I would want to certainly not want to get into any briars. Stay on the trail. **Q: I'd like to wear something in the tropics to protect from bugs. Would these likely be too warm?** A: These pants protect well against rain and wind. As such, they don't breath/ventilate. I would not use them for protection against insects in a warm or hot environment, preferring instead a garment with a mesh construction. **Q: Do you have the jacket, too?** A: There are jacket in the store, you can enter and buy through the store. **Q: Do these pants have taped seams and a waterproof breathable membrane fabric?** A: They are water proof and breathable, but, the bottom half of the leg is zippered for boots, and I went across a creek that went up to my knees and water seeped through the zippers and went into my boots. Also, they are not completely water proof if you have to lean down onto your knees in water to observe a small plant or animal. There is another pant that is more "rubberized" that I am still trying to find. After 4 months of almost daily uses there is some wear on the internal liner fabric but no holes or issues with the stitching. The Velcro and zippers bottom of each leg are perfect for quickly being able overlay these on winter or rubber boots. So much better then having to take the time to put long jons on or much heavier snow pants. Quick on and off and warm in the minus double digits with the wind. Would maybe not recommend for summer rain but fall winter and spring these are great.
