This is an incredibly well-made knife (The pattern is beautiful too), with great balance, excellent steel. The knife is very comfortable to hold. It was very sharp when I took it right out of the box so you have to be careful with it. Japanese style knives are not meant for a steel so use a fine stone. It may not be a 100% authentic Japanese knife but it will do whats intended to do. The handle however feels hollow and much lighter than it should.I gave it one less start because I believe it should just be a touch lower in price for the handle alone.
