You should see blue foam emerge from the drain. **Q: ingredients and their safety** A: They contain Malic Acid and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. It does not contain Phosphates. I purchased this because it is safe for septic tanks. Works like a charm. Pic implies 8, but I only got 4.** A: Actually all of you should question this whether you got 4 or 8 because it states 2...4 packs but the picture shows it a bonus pack of 5 so technically you all should have got 10 individual packs. Throw the pod inside the drain, have a little bit of water and turn it on. The satisfying blue foam comes up both sides of the sink. I leave mine for about 30 minutes and rinse with some water. Drain doesn’t smell and never had those sewer flies.
