Hold Out 6" S35VN Ultra-Sharp Blade 7.2" G-10 Handle Everyday Carry Pocket Folding Knife w/Tri-Ad Lock, Pocket Clip

Originally 4 star but I changed it to 5 after 1 Week. let me explain. 1. the triad lock. its tough to disengage . for a weak finger like myself. but... with some practice or even the help of a tool or wrench if needed.. it Can be re-disengaged and closed.. its not permanently locked open -something that I had feared.. so with that said. its difficult for the weak fingered user.. i would prefer a fast and well oiled disengage with minimal effort. minus points there. I don't have one of those micro Wrench tools that could possibly open the case and reduce tension .. Unless they want to send me one for free then I can try to disable the knife... 2. the blade is in short. a big.. menacing steak knife.. capable of taking a cow a human a rabbit or 100 stacks of cardboard and it cuts paper with an amazing fine edge that you would not or could not believe as a 1st time user, such as myself. beyond 5 stars .. awesome folding steak knife.. very E-Z to conceal does not even notice it at my belt its so comfortable.. I think that this is "Super-Steel" based on the performance. and the Handle is Extremely comfortable.. more so than anything I have previously tried. It allows a near dead lock grip. I don't think this needs a crossguard hilt for protection. The thumb knob... is not as good as i want it to be.. i have a small hand.. and then i cannot flip this out like a pro. so if they made that easier for a consumer product user like me that would be great. But overall a fun and very useful product. No man should be without their set of personal cutlery EDC .. dinner is always a priority .. burly profile design with a razor point tip cuts cardboard and paper in a cinch. is quite a menace and is mighty to behold and hold in your hand.

I put off buying the Hold Out because it didn't have a guard of any kind. Finally pulled the trigger during the big Prime day sale. After getting it in hand I have little qualms about the lack of guard because it tapers up towards the blade. When you have a good grip on it your hand won't slide up due to it getting wider towards the blade. The American G10 is also nice and grippy. Pocket clip doesn't need any tweaking and has perfect retention without being overly tight. Easy and comfortable pocket carry due to its slimness. You can snap this one open with a good hard wrist snap. Just make sure to keep your fingers out of the line of the blade on case you flub up the opening. Came absolutely razor sharp as all my Cold Steels do. However, there were a few marks on one side of the blade that I was mostly able to rub out with a little knife oil. Not sure what it was, but seems it was on top of the blade and not in the blade. Great addition to my Cold Steel mega folder collection. Had a hard time deciding on plain edge vs. serrated though. The plain edge is more versatile, but the serrated excels in self-defense applications. Those serrations cut through man-made material such as clothing better. They also cause more damage as you can imagine. Buy one, you won't be sorry.

If you're looking for a high-quality carving or defensive knife, this one is perfect. It's thick, solid, strong, locks in place, and just looks amazing. I absolutely love mine, and I know Yuri from Doki Doki would feel the same!

The knife is interesting. Clearly a giant, it’s reasonably light , and fairly pocket friendly for a cold steel. I only carry this around the house and tend to think of it as a pocket kitchen knife. It came very sharp, but the triad on it runs towards the stickier side of the continuum. (I have a lot of CS with triads). I wouldn’t say it sticks , but unlike many others you can disengage one handed , this is still two handed close. The action was decent, it inertia opens easily. While the G10 is ok grippy, the tapered handle can make you feel like it’s going slip out of your hand.

It's big and very sharp! As others have noted, the lock can be a bit stiff. It's fine for opening, but pressing the detente to close takes some pressure. The jimping on the blade is good for precise work, but I'd say it's better for use with gloves. Here it is next to my Cold Steel Frenzy for comparison, it's roughly the same size but looks bigger due to the flat ground blade.

Ok, so this is a beast of a folder, it's so much lighter than the espada xl, i carry it all day long in my short's pocket, the design is piercing oriented but with the serrations is a whole other story, this mf will cut anything like is nothing, on top of that i added a cheap ali snaggletooth, that's a game changer, so long story short, great for self defense, not so great for utility purposes, specially if you don't wanna scare to death people around you. I'd give 6 stars if i could PD: A lot of people seems to think this knife needs a guard or a bigger choil, let me tell you, once you get a solid grip on it, it ain't going anywhere, even in wet conditions. PD2: My hand size is Large, almost extra large and for me at least the grip is perfect, altough given the neutral shape of the handle, size doesn't really matter so much. This is the best quality you can possible get for a self defense tool at any price point.

Was glad Cold Steel brought this back. G10 texture is more subdued than older models and pocket clip long enough (less tension) for me not to have to sand down that section to avoid pocket destruction, which is a plus. Fits all the way into my front jeans pocket. Came very sharp. Works very well with an aftermarket SnaggletoothAL opener. The only downside to it is that the Triad lock is one of the stiffest I have ever had, and makes closing it a displeasure, even after lots of opening/closing for the sole purpose of smoothening the lock and plenty of oiling. It is very difficult to close this with one hand. I suppose that’s the tradeoff for the security of my fingers though. Overall very pleased with it anyway.

Great quality as every other quote seal product I’ve ever purchased. Definitely will be keeping this one forever.
