They did not require us to ship back the original one. DO NOT BUY THIS GENERATOR *by T***Y on October 5, 2023* We bought this generator for the quiet technology. When we first plugged our trailer into it, the trailer started blowing fuses. We chalked it up to a bad fuse somewhere. The second time we plugged it into our trailer, we noticed a couple more fuses had blown, and my husband's c-pap machine stopped working. Well, the next morning, when we woke up right behind the generator, there was a huge burn scare behind the exhaust. The brush was not tall at all, so it had not touched the exhaust in order for it to catch fire. If I could have given a zero star, I definitely would have. The oil level and everything was just fine, by the way. They did refund my money, but I am out of my husband's c-pap.
