I have tried to reinsert the connections. Nothing seems to help. Is bad thermostat?** A: Try loosening and retightening the tip screws. Also remove the pen from the cord and reattach to the cord until the gold ring of the pen completely covers the silver ring of the cord. If this does not resolve the issue contact Mastercarver (Burnmaster) technical support. **Q: What is the return policy?** A: Not sure. My husband loved the burner no need to return. **Q: Is there a soldering tip for these units** A: This unit does not include a soldering tip but is compatible with other brands of tips and pens: Detail Master Ver. 1 &2, Colwood & Razertip. I use mine for Pyrography only, so I didn't notice the solder feature in my research of which burn tool was best for my use. You may be better off getting a separate tool for that specific use. On a side note though, I absolutely love my Burnmaster so far! **Q: Does the cord that conects the pen heats up ?** A: The cord does not heat-up but the holder can get slightly warm. You will need to work with the spring supports that hold the handles, as they are a bit difficult to get into the pre-drilled holes. Took me about 15 minutes to get them in. You need to work them around as needed, to put in correctly. Also, the cords are 'hard' to get onto the back of the handles. They MUST be put on tight. This is a very tight connection that delivers the power.
