As you can see, despite my maintenance to the old filter and washing it regularly (per the instructions), over time it has built up some pretty thick hard dust that is very difficult to remove. I started frequently getting the error message on the vacuum that there was a suction issue, and the vacuum would turn off. Once I removed the old filter and popped in the new one, the vacuum started working with what seemed to be much higher suction, with no error message stops, and just like it was when we first bought it.
