With iced coffee season upon us, I thought to expand my "retirement dorm room," a tiny 450 sq ft studio with a galley kitchen, with another carefully selected item for my pondered necessities, now that I am disabled and retired.I am a retired engineer, so design is important. I can not stand easily and have no dishwasher, so an item must be easily cleaned, and easy to assemble and disassemble and clean. I have so little room in my kitchen, it must be sleek and play well with other items in the refrigerator or on my tiny dining table. And of course, it must perform as advertised.One cup of CdM out of the can, prepared according to their directions, 12h in the fridge produced a lovely, strong concentrate without a tinge of bitterness. Being chicory coffee, it was perhaps not as strong as pure coffee might be -- next time I will be more patient and let it go further into their 12-24h suggested steeping range.The first pint glass I drank diluted with water, and the second with home-made soymilk. Curiously, I found myself more inclined to sweeten the pint I sweetened with unsweetened soymilk than the diluted concentrate, black, which was smooth and lovely. I found a webpage that suggested maple-vanilla syrup as a sweetener, but these days I think that might be a bit spendy for my fixed income, but "creole coffee," light with a bit of molasses will be my next experiment. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Cold Brew!!! *by C***. on Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2018* I am an avid iced coffee drinker. 1* outside and I will have an iced coffee in hand. I make my own every morning, but decided to look for something better than brewing hot and putting in the refrigerator. This cold brew coffee maker exceeds my expectations. No acid taste, very smooth and flavored coffee has a better flavor! Here are some tips I have learned along the way, so you can brew the best cup:1. I fill the filter about 75-80% of the way up. Filling it halfway is fine, but you will want to let it brew for a longer amount of time to get a stronger coffee.2. When the coffee is about halfway up the filter, pour about a cup of water over it. Continue filling the filter with coffee.3. When you are satisfied with the amount of coffee in the filter, pour the water over the coffee in the filter.4. Use cool (not cold) water to fill up the pitcher.5. Let the coffee brew for the first 8-10 hours at room temperature. Stir it around a bit and put it in the refrigerator for the remaining time to get to 24 hours brewing.6. The first day is great, but the second, third and fourth days are better. If you let it brew for longer, you get better coffee. I liked a lot about their design compared to other options from other sellers. Everything from the way the handle is built into the lid (vs the competitors who have awkwardly shaped glass handles) to the different filters for coffee vs infusion, and the pitcher size so you can fill a few glasses. The sellers responded quickly when my item arrived with a broken filter and they sent me a replacement filter quickly for free (including free shipping).This is also dishwasher safe for easy cleaning, which I feel can be hard to find.
