Brother Printer RHL3170CDW Digital Color Printer with Wireless Networking (Renewed Premium)

The last year has been a printer nightmare. I got a well-reviewed HP Envy 5663 because I found cartridges for $15 each on amazon but they suddenly disappeared and the only option was $35. And it wouldn’t take refilled cartridges so now I have a bunch of ink I can’t use. I finally decided to bite the bullet on a Laser printer and because I’ve only had excellent experiences with Brother brand products, I waited a few months to find an amazing deal. I rarely print in color but I did want the option. Copier function would have been nice but I don’t need it as I can just use a scanner app on my phone and this laser printer.I bought this printer Certified Refurbished on Amazon Warehouse Deals for around $125. The only decent mono laser printer was already $80, so it was an easy decision. The next cheapest color laser was twice the price, and the cartridges were insanely expensive.I checked to be sure I could refill the toner myself and found Brother is one where that is possible. Some machines require a new chip but that’s still cheaper than new cartridges.The nightmare we had on our last printer was affording cartridges. Spending $35 a month just for black refills was insane. This printer pays for itself within four months and the toner lasts forever in the printer world. Inkjet is the biggest scam ever.I had the printer unboxed, plugged in, connected to WiFi, and printing in under FIVE minutes. And it is fast. Definitely glad this does a few pages more per minute than the next model below. This printer was a steal and a huge problem solver.*Update*This printer works flawlessly. Even if we lose internet due to an outage or restarting our router, there have been zero connection issues. The print quality is consistently good! I highly recommend this printer.

It prints. I can't say anything else good about it but that. The print quality honestly sucks. There's no other way to describe it. The double sided print doesnt work. It only printed double sided when I used cardstock but even then the alignment was off. The back page always printed slightly lower than the front page. It was an easy set up, nothing complicated. I cant speak on anything else because I'm done with the printer and will be returning it come Monday.

Very easy and quick set-up! Worked well for the very first page!I really wanted the color laser printer to do:- auto duplex (2 sided)- wireless printing- under $150This did all three and I was fine with it being refurbished. It still comes with a 1 year warranty. I figure if anything goes wrong it will happen the first month. From other comments, I do want to see how I can make sure the toner level is from actual use rather than number of pages. That makes such a huge difference! The time from out the box to printing first page was literally less than 10 minutes! It was bigger than I had expected, but luckily still fits fine on my desk. This makes sense, because of having four toners.

Not compatible with fast network. 5 hours waisted on this product.If you have a slower network or print from a central server, probably a great printer.

Two year warranty. Crapped out after 3 years, 7 months, 17 days. Replacing with an HP.

I love this printer. I only print a few pages and envelopes a month so, I decided to try a reconditioned printer. It looks like a new one and everything works perfectly. Set up was easy and it works perfectly with my iPhone and iPad.

I've come to love all Brother products, especially their printers. This is a great little printer for the money! Value rich features like wireless printing, automatic duplex, and stunning color make this printer a real steal! Better yet, I purchased the "factory refurbished" model for an even cheaper price, and it came to me in "brand new" condition. The manual feeder tray is wonderful for printing any size paper or envelopes......I used this to print my wedding invitations with no problems whatsoever. The wireless printing capability is my favorite quality about this printer! It was so easy to set up - just pop in the CD and choose wireless setup.....the program automatically connects the printer to your secured wireless network. Overall, I am thrilled with my purchase!

This is my third Brother printer, and I think I'm a fan. This machine replaces the two that I had a few decades back, a Tectronix Phaser 560 and a Minolta Color Pageworks, both worth many thousands new and requiring about $1200 of toner, and I dare say that not only is it more sophisticated yet easier to use, but it does an excellent job with a variety of papers. I love that it has a straight-through feed for heavy paper and that it does automatic duplexing. Oh, and for dinosaurs like me who stubbornly refuse to join the twenty-onest century, it works fine on Windows XP.
