The two sharpened points on the legs are ideal for long divider measurements and will be handy in the wood shop with pencil removed. Having the 16" compass now is persuading me to get the 12" compass as well to fill in the middle ground between this quite large compass and standard draftsmen compasses found at office supply stores.
