It is also stong enough to survive the occasional 4 or 5 foot drop to the floor. The riser fits between the Telrad unit and it's original mounting base plate and is secured by 4 thumbscrews at both the top and bottom corners. Special note, the original mounting plate is indented sufficiently to accept the attachment of 6 1" x 2" x 3/4" Magnets, like those used on a whiteboard, which makes for easy and simple dismounting of the unit. **Q: Would you suggest a 4" or 2" riser on a Celestron 6SE?** A: Probably 4" for face room. **Q: Would this riser be needed on a celestron eq 127 with a telrad? Also is it best to mount riser first or can it be added later? My concern is xtra cost** A: Would it be needed??? That's a personal preference. Also you do not mount the riser. You first mount a Telrad Base....then if you want the "Telrad" to be higher....then you decide if and which "riser" to use to fit your need. **Q: Where is this made/manufactured?** A: The label on the box says, "Telrad 4" Riser Base, Fallon, NV, USA" No other markings... I have installed Telerads on my scopes even though they are very large and I have had to be innovative about placement. The beat out all of the other designs. The bade has been a god send since it places the finder up and out of the way of the lens so my head is not bumping the finder. I can look through the lens with one eye, shift my head a bit and look through the finder.. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent additon to the Telrad LED Finder to keep your cheek from touching the optical tube *by T***S on November 10, 2014* This elevates the Telrad LED Finder four inches off the optical tube of your telescope. If you already own a Telrad but are tired of placing your cheek down close to the cold metal of the optical tube when you sight, this riser is what you need. Works great on my Orion XT10g. Just be careful of the amount of added weight it will add to one end of your optical tube (moment). This moment can become large and you may need to balance it with magnetic weights on the opposite side of your optical tube. Other than that, and this riser works great.
