The polished nickle base appeared to be high quality metal until I picked it up. You can screw in or out the rear legs to adjust the tilt for drainage to your preference. Soft feet keep it from slidding around, at least on our granite. Not being glass I do not have to worry about it shattering if I bump it into the granite vanity top or tub deck.
