It will work for cold brewing coffee if you wrap the coffee grinds in a coffee filter and secure it with a rubber band.This DOES work wonderfully for cold brewing loose iced tea. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Not a lot of coffee.....breakable *by R***E on Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2018* Nice design and nice materials, but be aware that this is a smaller volume container. As you can see, the coffee maker tapers at the top. When you subtract the volume taken up by the insert and its contents, you are left with enough coffee for two large cups. Anyway, that's what I get out of it. Which is fine. But if you are looking to make coffee for two or more people, I'd recommend something with more volume.Edit: Broke. Yes, glass is breakable. It was effected but I never knew how much was left and if i needed to brew more. Enter the Maya & Ethan model sans handle. The handle gets in the way in a refrigerator and that was a huge selling point for me. The overall diameter of the carafe fits comfortable in my hand and is easy to grip. I love the simplicity of cleaning. I simply tap grinds out in the trash and wash clean for another use. The rubber gasket sealing system is effective and the entire units feels like quality materials.As another reviewer has stated, the stainless mesh insert is made with perhaps more tolerance than needed, yielding some finer grounds to escape into your freshly made cold brew. I grind at home so this was a non issue. I simply grind a little less and go for a more course grind. I plan to get a lot of use out of this setup bouncing between loose leaf teas and cold brew.I included a shot of my messy fridge and how this unit fits with ease.
