## Description

The Fujifilm gfx 50S medium format mirrorless digital camera adopts a 43.8Ｘ32.9mm medium format g format) sensor with 51.4 MP. Featuring premium design and excellent operability stemming from the highly reputable digital camera x series system and the accumulation of image design technology from over 80 years of experience, the gfx 50S achieves the highest ever image quality from released with the APS-C sensor in 2011, the x series has earned high praise from professional photographers and photography enthusiasts alike, due to its excellent image quality and mobility across a wide range of genres including landscapes, snaps, portraits, and sports photos. On the other hand, there were also many photographers craving for the release of a camera equipped with a large-size sensor with an even higher number of effective Pixels, which could be used mainly in the fields of commercial and studio portrait photography, while at the same time keeping the excellent color reproduction of the x series intact. In response to those voices, developed the gfx 50S and the fujinon gf lenses series as a system for photographers that require even higher image quality than can be covered by the current x series lineup

Review: Simple, stunning, and well thought out, but not as versatile as a standard 35mm DSLR/mirrorless. - I have to say, it's everything they said it would be. The picture quality and dynamic range is amazing. Perhaps that's because this is the first medium format camera I have personally used, but I could never even afford to look at these before. I have to agree that this is not really a carry around camera. Its ISO performance is not as good as my D810 or A7rii, but that was known before I purchased it. I agree with most reviewers that this should be used with controlled lighting situations where motion is little to none. Since I shoot mostly portrait photography, the detail I have found with this camera is incredible. I really like how simple the camera is setup. The auto focus is great. Controls are easily accessible, customization is very easy, menu systems are straightforward. Unlike with the A7rii, I don't have to go searching for what I want to change. So is it worth the price? If you are planning on using this like you would a 35mm, then I would say no. You can get a lot more use range with a 35mm (DSLR/mirrorless) than you would with this camera. But if you are into taking shots under controlled conditions for very high resolution and spectacular range, then yes. It's just a matter of how bad you want those fine details for those specific shots. This darn camera makes me look like I actually know what I am doing.
Review: Quality Fun Personified in a Rewarding Camera - I am an older amateur, and this camera takes me back many years to my good old Pentax 6X7 days (I still have it and all of my lenses). Using it you get images that are just as exciting but because of modern technology the GFX camera is much more fun to use. Image quality is just what one would expect for this size sensor. All the lenses are nothing but Fujifilm quality through and through, especially the 120 mm. Thank you Fujfilm, and I forgive you for not going full frame. Hard to put it down and not try to make it my day to day camera to replace the X-Pro2 and the X-T2. I got it for making large landscape prints with a camera that looks and feels like a real camera, not a computer. I am very happy with this system and it is worth the price.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Let's have an honest convo: would you buy this over the pentax 645z?considering the quality of lenses?future-proofing?quality?etc.? if you had the mo**
A: Yes. In fact, I used to own the 645z. Don't get me wrong, the Z is an amazing camera, and can probably be had for a lower price since the 645x (I believe it's called,) will be coming out at some point in 2018. The reason I switched from the Z to the GFx was for two reasons. One, size. If you put the two cameras side by side, and mounted their respective zooms, the Gfx is a LOT smaller and lighter than the Z is. The Pentax 28-45 zoom is huge, and way to large to be using in the field for any amount of time. As a landscape photographer, this was a big deal for me. Two, customer service. Fujifilm has an AMAZING track record with servicing and repairing cameras in house, whereas Pentax makes you send the camera to Precision Camera Repair. Please look this company up and read their reviews. I had to send my Z out and they kept it all summer, then sent it abroad, only to have it come back to me and say they couldn't repair it, and charge me $400 for flying it around the world. I have to say, aside from these two reasons, and take it from someone who has used both cameras, the Fujifilm GF lenses ARE sharper, and resolve more detail. I have seen this first hand. One added bonus, I use the X100f for street photography, and I am in love with the Acros-R film simulation. The fact that the GFx camera includes the same film simulations in-camera is pretty sweet.

**Q: Who makes the sensor? let's be honest: hassy isn't worth it. glass+sensor+ergonomics/focus ability equals image quality. post work standardizes col**
A: It is a Sony sensor the same sensor (with minor mods) as the Hasselblad X Pentax 645Z and PODAS 50mpx cameras

**Q: Where is it manufactured**
A: The camera body is stamped "Made in Japan"

**Q: Can you use XT lenses on this camera?**
A: Simple answer is NO; no adapters, and these excellent lenses do not come close to covering the GFX sensor, they are designed to cover an apsc sensor and are very compact

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unbelievable Image Quality!
*by D***N on May 28, 2017*

The performance of this camera is off the chart. It has the best image quality of any camera I have ever owned. To name of few of my favorites: Sony RX1RM2, Sony A7RM2, X-Pro 2 and Leica Q. The GFX has recently gotten me to sell my Sony A7RM2. Don't get me wrong, the camera's I just mentioned all are remarkable but the FujiFilm GFX 50S produces the kind of images that wows me on a regular basis. I am pretty much a pixel peeper when it comes to image quality so it's tough to really impress me. I realize that I have bought into a larger camera system, but it is well worth the size and weight for (in my opinion) the major bump in image quality. In terms of handling I actually find that the GFX is much more comfortable to shoot than the Sony A7RM2. Truthfully, I hate the location of the viewfinder on the Sony - it's too deeply set into the camera. I always seemed to be torquing my neck and really jamming my nose into the LCD to get my eye into the EVF. The GFX is much more natural shooting experience. That in itself, for me, makes up for the larger size and weight. By no means is the GFX huge, I'd say it is smaller than most standard DSLRs. It roughly the same size as the Panasonic GH5. So far, I have only tested the 63mm F/2.8 and the Pentax SMCP-FA 645 400mm. The 120mm macro and the 32-64mm should be arriving soon. Hopefully, I'll have more to add after I test those lenses.
