Color is an integral part of any design solution. Design Elements, Color Fundamentals is an essential resource for designers who want to create memorable design and successfully communicate with their audience. It is the second book in Rockport's Design Elements series, which focuses on the core elements of design. With this book, designers will: โLearn how to effectively communicate with color and integrate color with type and image to affect meaning and create order โSee how known pairings and selection methods can be used in real-world projects โExplore hundreds of visual examples, illustrating how effective color combinations can be applied to any project, across media, and in diverse, cultural, and geographic situations โRealize the basic tenets of color theory as it is broken down into clear and actionable directives โUncover tips and techniques for using color in client-based design work Discover the basic rules for working with color as well as when it's OK to break the rules with Design Elements, Color Fundamentals ! Review: Correct material provided - I like the content of the book, as it explains themes easily. There is comment from customer (Bernard P) where he states that author incorrectly refers to โsubtractive modelโ ( on p.10). And in fact, it is โadditive modelโ. It confuses readers, as the author of book didnโt make mistake and in fact, subtractive model is rightly referred (it is not only for CMYK). The additive model is in place (refer to p. 41). Hope it will clarify things to other reader, as I first didnโt want to purchase the book where some incorrections exists, and that comment made me doubt whether It is worth to buy the book, now I see that no mistakes were made by author of the book. Review: a must have for designers - this book, is one of the most complete books that i ever read, because in it , you re going to find all kind of useful fundamentals about, design, color, composition, color theory and how to used. i use this book for inspiration too, because it has a lot of examples of how to implement the theory, based on the work of a lot of good designers arround the world.

Color Not Described Accordingly
Perhaps its just my copy. Im pretty sensitive to color but the ink printing (in this soft covered book) seem to be a little off. For example, the blue didn't look blue... it was more of a purple, the red violet is maroon, the red is a red orange, the blue green looked violet...etc. Majority of the visuals threw me off. Aside from this, the facts are all there and it was a good read.

Print quality disappointing
For a book on Color Fundamentals in design, the quality of the print is poor, so though the content is useful, unsure that the color examples are dependable.

this book was required for one of my graphic design ...
this book was required for one of my graphic design classes and I ended up loving it. Color theory is explained nearly from scratch so anyone can understand it from the basics. Will keep it as a guide for my future.

I really love the book
I really love the book....but on page 10 it refers to an red, yellow, and blue color model as a "Subtractive Model" when it is the "Additive Model". I love Ms. Sherin's use of examples to support the material that is being presented.
