## Description

Build a Nice Log Cabin Fire. Heck, Build a Nice Log Cabin Home. This traditionally-modeled two-handed camp axe with a hickory handle and hot forged blade, will make your life easier when you’re off the grid. Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical in Chattanooga, TN designed the Nobo T-hawk. He’s a specialist in applying modern engineering to centuries old tool and weapon concepts, and upping the ante once again with a new outdoor line of tomahawks that swing as big as the open wilderness in which they’re found. The design for this T-Hawk is modeled after the classic trade tomahawks common during the 18th century. Carried by Native Americans and frontiersmen alike, this remake is made less for self defense, and more for battle with a few old Doug Firs. The Nobo is made from a solid chunk of 1055 carbon steel that is hot forged into a rock-solid head and features a hammer finish. With primary and secondary edge bevels that are flat ground, it cuts through timber like a beaver. The thick wood handle is made in the USA from Tennessee hickory. It's comfortable in hand and sealed with a lacquer coat that adds durability whenever you're in the backcountry—in other words, all the time.Grab hold of the Nobo T-Hawk and split some wood—like a cord’s worth.NOTE: Leather sheath is available as an after-market add-on. It is not included. But don’t worry. You won’t want to keep this baby wrapped up.Specifications:Blade Length: 3.471" (88.16 mm)Edge: AxeSteel: 1055 Carbon SteelBlade Finish: Hammer Finish; Clear Lacquer PaintBlade Thickness: 0.460" (11.68 mm)Grind: Hot ForgedOpen Length: 19.13" (485.9 mm)Weight: 1.59 lb (0.72 kg)Handle: Tennessee HickoryStyle: Tomahawk

Review: Great little backpacking hatchet/throwing hatchet. - * Worried the handle will break? Mine didn't and I put it through the wringer on a backpacking trip. Cut down dead and living 8" inch in diameter trees and made it earn its keep with the fire wood. * Afraid its too heavy? Its not. its actually surprisingly light in the hand. * Worried about the craftmanship of the handle, yeah do that. I mean its fine, but the oval of the handle is like, cut wrong at the edges. I don't really notice at all unless I look for it. But, who cares that's going to break over time and be replaced anyway. *Worried about the craftmanship of the head? Meh, its fine. Its uniform in shape but its like a B-. But, for the price this thing is a home run. the steel sharpens well enough too. You wont be shaving with it, but its plenty sharp for outdoorsy stuff. *Worried about the taper of the heads edge? You have the wrong product here. Its tapper is middle of the road. Its not supposed to be a throwing axe, or a cut down the redwood forest, either. Its about 20 degree angle. Worried that it might not be made in the usa? Its not. The handle is, so there's something. Got mine for $35 and I think its worth $50 but, if you're going higher you're in made in usa territory (this isnt) so just buy American and have better quality in Axe head so you can have just one hiking axe for ever since the steel will be higher quality, toughness, keep its edge longer, wear away less quickly while sharpening. all that.
Review: Craftsmanship and Quality!!! - Ok, I have been an avid buyer of Cold Steels hawks for a while now and I wasn't going to buy another, (collection is amassing u know!) but the Metal Gods spoke to me and I bought the Nobo! Upon opening the packaging I was greeted with an emerald green CRKT box that was very neatly and nicely packaged on the inside. Everything was where it should be with nothing sticking out of the box like sharp edges. First, I took out the pole which I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of and lacquer although there is a lot of it! The choice grain hickory that they use for their poles is superb and 200 times better than anything Cold Steel produces. Secondly I took the hefty steel axe head out of its plastic packaging, inspected it and there was absolutely nothing wrong aside from having to make it razor sharp myself. I can't speak enough of the quality of this hawk! The pole fits very snug and fits very nice out of the box, but it will need a little sanding to make it sit flush and true. There is a Lot of laquer on the handle though but it's better than wax!! I absolutely love it and encourage You to buy one if you're on the fence like I was. You'll never look back. End note; I purchased the leather Nobo sheath for it and it fits like a glove.!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a good tomahawk for throwing?**
A: They can be. The blade is thick for throwing so needs more force to bite. Also necessary to secure the head or else will be resetting it after every throw

**Q: how much does this weigh?**
A: Mine was a 3.8lb shipping weight. Dont know exact weight

**Q: Does this manufacturer sell the replacement handles as well?**
A: Yes they do. I did a review of the Woods Chogan for my YT channel : Chesapeake Hammock and Outdoors. I refinished my handle and did a few easy mods to it and the head to turn it into a really nice looking and still functional hawk. Check it out if your interested... ~Chesapeake

**Q: Is the shaft round or oval?**
A: Great question - the CRKT Woods Tomahawk Axe handle is ergonomically designed wider in depth than width, and tapers forward. So it is an oval shape, and wider where it sits in your palm but slightly thinner where your fingers wrap around the front, giving you the best grip possible.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good looking tomahawk
*by R***R on April 3, 2021*

I got this CRKT tomahawk because I wanted another throwing hawk and I couldn't find another cold steel trail hawk. This is made of good steel and seems to hold a good edge once you get one. The handle is larger in diameter than the cold steel ones so I've had to order extras through CRKT. The head is heavier on this that the CS one. The blade is thicker so it doesn't stick as well in the end of a log. If I had gotten this for a camp axe the thicker blade would be ok. But if I wanted a camp axe, I'd have ordered one with a poll so I could use it for tent stakes. This seems like it's a good tomahawk, I've just been spoiled already. The handle was varnished when I got mine so I had to sand it off before use. It does have a pretty handle. Two advantages of the CRKT over the Cold Steel. No little set screw to throw away and little hole in the head. This one also didn't come in that black paint I have to scrape off my Cold Steel hawks. I prefer the bevel of the Cold Steel, but this is a good hawk too.
