Why is this so weak smelling, compared to the olbas oil in europe? are the oils just oxydized by the time it reaches the customer, or what?

I'm not sure about from different countries but in my opinion it's pretty strong in odor. I use it as a massage oil for my muscle disorder. It works wonders!

Is this okay for animals? Specifically hedgehogs?

Many essential oils, such as eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, cinnamon, citrus, peppermint, pine, wintergreen, and ylang ylang are toxic to pets. These are toxic whether they are applied to the skin, used in diffusers or licked up in the case of a spill. Before using on your pet please contact a veterinarian to check if this is alright for your hedgehog.

However, there are sometimes slight differences in the smell of Olbas Oil from batch to batch. Most people do not notice this, but some with a sensitive nose will. This is because Olbas Oil is a natural product, and the properties of the herbs used in the essential oils may vary slightly each time the formula is made, depending on where the crops were grown, time of harvest, country of origin and other factors. We maintain strict quality controls to assure that the Olbas formula is as consistent as possible for maximum effectiveness. The packaging has been updated.

Not sure if Olbas has an expiration date. But its an oil- with a shelf life of 2-3 years
