Nice GF buckwheat
It's a good product. I would prefer organic, though. Here's how I cook it so it is a fluffy grain-like side dish, not porridge. I don't roast it. I put it in a steel rice colander and first sift out any dust. Then I rinse with filtered water. I use filtered water since my area has water quality issues. I rise it with 2 or 3 changes of water. Then I put it in a pot with excess water and cook until it is just barely soft enough to eat. Then I drain and rise 2 more times & drain really well. I put it back in the pot and put on the burner on medium, stirring gently with a spoon a few times, until it is steaming. Then I turn off the heat, put on a lid and let it sit for 15-20 minutes, occasionally wiping off condensation from inside of lid with a towel.

Love Gerbs!
These buckwheat groats are delicious! Gerbs is a favorite company in my house because we have some food allergies. I know with Gerbs my family is safe and weโre getting a delicious product!

NOT ROASTED BUT GOOD
I didn't even think the ones I found "somewhere" at a local store. Never have been able to find the again. These are not roasted but were good for my recipe and for the amount of the package, a very good price too.

great product, timely delivery.
Excellent product. Fresh. No stones. Delivered quickly. Exactly what I expected - a quality buckwheat. The buckwheat is sourced from organic farms. Wish people would give the company a break and understand the expense and the hoops required to get FDA Organic certification. Worst thing that ever happened to the organic industry was the FDA bullying their way in to certification process. The old state certifying agencies had better criteria and made the process attainable for small companies. FDA dummies down criteria while adding much unnecessary expense and useless paperwork. All about the money...

Tastes Burnt. Mushy texture.
Burnt flavor. Turned into mush when it was cooked. I've made buckwheat groats with other brands with wonderful results, but this brand...I will not purchase again. Additionally, for some reason these cook very quickly and absorb an incredible amount of moisture. There were no instructions regarding proper cooking method. Again, regardless of this, every batch I made tasted burnt, even when I intentionally undercooked it.

Misleading Product Photo: Buckwheat Is Raw, Not Toasted
Note: this is raw buckwheat. The product image on this page is misleading and makes it look like the groats are toasted, but they are not. I'm attaching a photo of the product I received: as you can see, these do not have the rust toasted color, more the beige with green tinge of raw buckwheat. Other than that the buckwheat seems fine, but the product image should be updated because it's a pain to have to toast the buckwheat when you specifically bought the one that should not require it.
