Who knew Amazon Basics was just what the Teacher ordered?! I was looking for a pencil sharpener for the kids as I was growing tired of buying individual sharpeners they'd end up breaking or losing. This is the perfect solution. Right out the box I put it to work! Sharpened a stack of colored pencils. It stops automatically once the pencils sharpened. It doesn't continue to shred it down like some of the others which is great! It's not big and noisy. The top is secure. In order to empty it you have to push in on 2 sides to lift it up. This prevents accidental spills. The item doesn't come with a power adapter for the USB cord provided. It can be operated with 4 AA batteries. The USB cord did not have a twist tie around it. I added a tie for personal preference (organization). Do I recommend? Yes! Don't hesitate. Buy! This item is great for the price.

You'll need 4 AA batteries. It's not too noisy and is right size for regular olden school pencils. It gives the long sharp point like a wooden draftsman pencil would have and gives a smooth finish. If I'm drawing I keep it near me. It works good od color pencils because it's got a barrel type sharpener and not one of those broken razor blade sharpeners. Haven't had it long enough to tell you how long it will last but it seems well built, and easy to use.

Purchased this as it was the lowest price I found. It works great and is compatible with the chargers I had. It easy to sharpen pencils at different levels, easy to clean, and put away.

I saw all the positive reviews but I've owned TWO of this same model and both had the same defects. The first model I received stopped working after a single pencil - the rotating blade just wouldn't spin at all. I received a free replacement and have had a 10% success rate with the replacement. 1/10 pencils will trigger the motor and spinning blade but any other pencils are out of luck. After that first one, it either stops working altogether or stutters along slower than a handheld sharpener. Maybe I've just had the worst luck with this model?

This works well enough. I wish it had a regular electric plug instead of a USB plug. The battery option is nice to have.

I didn't expect an electric pencil sharpener to be a source of nostalgia, but this sharpener evoked memories of standing in line in elementary school waiting for the electric pencil sharpener. This sharpener is modern and professional looking, and the ability to use the USB charger or on the internal battery frees up where you can keep it. My sketch pencil had a perfect point from new within just a few seconds. The shavings bin will easily hold enough for several sharpenings between emptying. The lid also secures very well with tabs on both sides that must be pressed to release, so you won't be fighting graphite dust everywhere if you accidentally tip it over. A thoughtfully built design for sure.

Works well. Haven't had any issues with this Amazon Basics device since I've bought it unlike some others. So needless to say it's holding up well. Sturdy build to it. I don't need to use it too often so I get a lot of battery life out of it. I like that it has a few different sharpening settings to select from. It's a solid pick if you're in the market for an automatic pencil sharpener.

I was looking for an electric pencil sharpener for my Prismacolor and other pencils in general that would produce a fine, consistent point. The official Prismacolor sharpener does a good job, but I felt like I wanted something faster and more precise. Then I came across with this Amazon basics pencil sharpener. Using it is very satisfying, you simply insert the pencil holding it firmly and it yields a perfect point. I don't notice a huge difference between the various point thickness settings, though there is a noticeable slight variation. it's included a usb cable for power but I love that it also can run on four AA batteries; I simply popped in some rechargeable Eneloop batteries and it works great without any cables getting in the way. Great purchase.

Très satisfait de ce taille-crayon électrique portable Amazon Basics. Il taille les crayons rapidement et avec précision, sans casser la mine. Même mon enfant de 2 anq l'utilise efficacepent. J'apprécie particulièrement qu'il permette d'obtenir trois types de pointes (fine, moyenne ou plus épaisse), ce qui est très pratique selon l'utilisation. Son format compact le rend facile à transporter et il est simple à utiliser. Très bon rapport qualité-prix, je le recommande.

What a truly great product. Perfectly designed. Works extremely well.I've owned it for over a year now, and thought I'd write to let everyone know how good it is.The sharpener does a really good job of sharpening on normal sized pencils and colouring pencils. You can't fit thick pencils in.The user can select 1 of 3 different grades of sharpening so that you can get a very sharp point, blunt tip, or somewhere in between. I didn't consider this useful before purchase, but now i see that this is a really good feature. The machine stops when it is has completed sharpening. I leave mine powered permanently using the supplied USB cable, but it can also be powered by batteries.It works a lot better than even a decent quality hand sharpener and seems to keep coloured leads intact where these would often snap off in a manual unit. The waste compartment is well sealed and you need to press button on both sides of lid to release for emptying. The waste is large enough to hold sharpenings many weeks so i would judge the capacity good for family use. Because the blade is fixed to the lid, once that is open there is no chance of accidental operation and cutting your fingers.The plug going into the sharpener doesn't fully go in so you are always left with a bit of the metal plug showing. This doesn't effect operation, but leaves the whole plug extending around 30mm from the rear. Overall this is a really good value sharpener, at less than 3 times the price of a manual model

Simple but very useful. It does everything I need it to do, and for the price, it's excellent value. I'm very happy with it.

Ottimo prodotto, versatile e potente. Funziona perfettamente e permette di scegliere il tipo di punta desiderato. La doppia alimentazione è comodissima. Il collegamento tramite usb lo rende molto pratico per la scrivania e permette di non consumare ben 4 pile.Unica cosa a cui prestare attenzione è non spingere troppo la matita. Spingendo forse un po' troppo ho incrinato la plastica cui sono attaccate le lame e il temperamatite non funziona più.Ovviamente ho rifatto l'acquisto perchè il prodotto merita davvero.
