Get up and running with Python 3.9 through concise tutorials and practical projects in this fully updated third edition. Purchase of the print or Kindle book includes a free eBook in PDF format. Key Features: Extensively revised with richer examples, Python 3.9 syntax, and new chapters on APIs and packaging and distributing Python code Discover how to think like a Python programmer Learn the fundamentals of Python through real-world projects in API development, GUI programming, and data science Book Description: Learn Python Programming, Third Edition is both a theoretical and practical introduction to Python, an extremely flexible and powerful programming language that can be applied to many disciplines. This book will make learning Python easy and give you a thorough understanding of the language. You'll learn how to write programs, build modern APIs, and work with data by using renowned Python data science libraries. This revised edition covers the latest updates on API management, packaging applications, and testing. There is also broader coverage of context managers and an updated data science chapter. The book empowers you to take ownership of writing your software and become independent in fetching the resources you need. You will have a clear idea of where to go and how to build on what you have learned from the book. Through examples, the book explores a wide range of applications and concludes by building real-world Python projects based on the concepts you have learned. What You Will Learn: Get Python up and running on Windows, Mac, and Linux Write elegant, reusable, and efficient code in any situation Avoid common pitfalls like duplication, complicated design, and over-engineering Understand when to use the functional or object-oriented approach to programming Build a simple API with FastAPI and program GUI applications with Tkinter Get an initial overview of more complex topics such as data persistence and cryptography Fetch, clean, and manipulate data, making efficient use of Python's built-in data structures Who this book is for: This book is for everyone who wants to learn Python from scratch, as well as experienced programmers looking for a reference book. Prior knowledge of basic programming concepts will help you follow along, but it's not a prerequisite. Review: A focused book for Python learners - If you are looking learn Python with an in depth understanding of the language, this book is for you. It starts with an introduction of fundamental topics in the first four chapters. After chapter 4, authors switch the gears and take you to the next level of Python topics such as comprehensions, generators, iterators, files, and the exception handling. A topic of cryptography is a bonus in my view as it is not usually considered as fundamental, but it is an essential ingredient to build any serious and production ready applications. In the later part of the book, authors have introduced Python for data science for beginners, how to build automated test (mainly unit tests), how to use Python for API development. I like the case study of a railway system introduced for the API development and then use the same case study for discussing how a project can be packaged and published for sharing with others. This is indeed a nice closure to the book. A couple of areas that can help to improve the readability of the book are; first, it is nice to have more diagrams and flow charts for discussion of complex topics. Second, breaking the the big sections into small subsections make it easy to u'stand the topics. I felt some sections are spanning many pages with only text and the code. Review: Great Overview of Python - As someone coming from a science background, I think this book is fantastic. It goes over all the basics in an easy to understand way. After I learned all the basics, I successfully created a user interface for my job that actually works! I would say this book presupposes you have basic knowledge of mathematical functions (adding, subtracting, squaring, recursive formulas). I spent a lot of time on this book and took good notes, and read every chapter except for the final two. I like how they have the code available online as well.

Very Technical And Professionally Written.
After a preliminary review, I am very pleased with the chapter layout, in depth language review, syntax, and coding examples. I purchased a previous so called highly rated and reviewed Python beginners book but it was so simplistic it became boring very quickly. I like books that get to the specifics early like this book. Thank you. I look forward to purchasing more advanced Python books from Packt.
