The solid side makes the most incredible smashed-flat hamburger patties. You get all the crunchy, Shake Shack-style meatiness of the burger with the full charcoal-grilled flavor. Slap a thick slice of cheddar cheese between two of those patties and mmmmm boy you're talking a great summer cookout. The ribbed side produces great hashmarks on a chicken breast. Looks professional and tastes great! Plus the design allows you to use it on a super-hot grill without burning the meat, onions, veg or whatever you want to cook quickly.The one thing I would say, having owned two of these now, is that it's super important to clean and season this right out of the box. I washed it well with warm soapy water, rubbed it liberally with canola on all sides (don't forget the outer rim, too) and then baked it on a sheet pan in a 375-degree oven for an hour. Do this first thing out of the box, and then remember to season it again with a thin skim of canola oil after each use. I've got the $25 charcoal grill and I couldn't be happier with the $100 investment I put into Craycort Cast Iron set. It heats evenly and is a pleasure to grill with. I recommend getting this Smokey Griddle in addition to the required Craycort Cast Iron Grate. While you're at it, get the cast iron Lifting Handle too, it's worth it.
