I wouldn't know why you would want to buy this to mount a Rode USB mic on it. You would probably need to buy an adapter to attach to the mic so you can attach the magic arm to it. I'm not sure why you would want to use this over something else that would be better, unless you have a specific custom use, and thats the reason you need it. If you are looking to use a clamp on a centre dual monitor pole to take the mic of your desk, don't, the clamp will extend to go on the pole, but you don't get enough bite for a secure mounting and it will slip down. **Q: Presumably this arm can be rigged with a super clamp at each end (if I buy an extra super clamp). Is this correct?** A: Yes. If you remove the cold shoe fitting from one end of the arm you have a ball head with a 1/4" screw which will attach to a super clamp at each end. **Q: Would this hold a 10x42 binocular?** A: If you had a thread on the binos. The hot shoe adaptor can come off to expose a standard camera tripod thread. The clamp grips super tight, it’s really easy to use and feels very well made. They hold a decent amount of weight and are super versatile to have in the bag. Great value for money.
