When being cooked, it did have some smell but not that bad. In fact, making it at work caused others to come try it The popcorn is very tasty but not overly hot. I finished a hole bag in one sitting without water. Heat would be 5.5 out of 10.. I would compare it to a jalapeno pepper at best Taste - 9 out of 10 (I would have gone 10 but I found it hard to cook the entire bag without some burning thus the flavor was affected) Package was fairly beaten up and the hot sauce in the package started to weep thru the popcorn bag.
