It's been some time, but I seem to recall that, unlike custard, you can let it come to a boil without burning it. In any case the result is a firmer set texture, which I like for trifle. Comes here in a variety of flavors. I've had difficulty in the past obtaining blancmange here in the States. Will be wanting more!

Once in a while I like to use blancmange in place of custard powder in making a lovely English trifle.
