I'm able to still easily open and close the ports on the left side of the camera as well.Putting it on the body was very easy, it also has 2 spots on the bottom to mount onto. So you don't lose anything by putting this on, you actually get 1 additional spot by having it on. So, if you need to mount a plate or something on the bottom of the bracket you're good to go. (I have a arca swiss plate mounted on the bottom)It has a very nice coating as well, and feels pretty decent. For the price, I'd say it's a great value. Especially considering other L brackets for this are considerably more expensive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pleasantly surprised and very impressed with the fit and finish! *by B***E on Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2018* I have used RRS plates and brackets for many years, going back to the Nikon D1x. The only complaint I ever had was the price. After reading the handful of reviews here I decided to take a chance.I just received this L bracket today. The fit and finish appears to be equal to the higher priced brand. This one even includes the small safety screws that can prevent disaster if the clamp on the tripod loosens a bit ... it happens. I also like that I don't need to carry an Allen wrench to mount it to the camera's battery grip.This of course is for the D500, and if available I will get one for a D850 if one, hopefully, makes it to my door. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well Built *by W***N on Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2018* I just installed this L bracket today. It fits my Nikon D500 perfectly. The battery for the grip is easily accessible without having to remove the bracket, so are all the left side plugs on the camera. You can also easily remove the grip, without needing to remove the L-Bracket. This make changing the battery in the camera a breeze.
