Hip and hilarious -- critics and audiences alike are raving about this must-see comedy hit! It's a laugh-out-loud look at a fun group of friends who spend their days looking for work and their nights in and out of Hollywood's coolest after-hours hangouts! When the lovesick Mike (Jon Favreau -- RUDY) can't seem to shake a relationship rut, his smooth, fast-talking buddy Trent (Vince Vaughn -- THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK 2) decides he'll do whatever it takes to show Mike a good time! Whether laughing over martinis in smoky cocktail lounges ... or searching for beautiful babes on an outrageous road trip to Vegas, these young swingers are determined to rewrite the rules of modern dating! Also starring Heather Graham (AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME). Review: An awesome movie. This is "exactly" what it was like to be alive in 1996 - An awesome movie. This is "exactly" what it was like to be alive in 1996 Review: "2 days is industry standard but 3 days is money" - Watch this if you just got dumped! (some spoilers below) This will make you feel slightly better. Its about a guy (Favereau) who just broke up/dumped (same thing) with his long time girlfriend and yearns to get back together with her (you know, you been there, he's checking his phone messages, praying that she leaves a message). This was filmed before cell phones were ubiquitous. His best friend (Vaughn) encourages him to go out on the "game", partly to help Favereau forget about his girlfriend but also partly for his own selfish reasons, as he wants a "wingman" to help him score. They decide to go Vegas to gamble and to pick up women but all Favereau can think about is his ex girlfriend. He has a chance to get laid with some cocktail waitress but ends up talking to her about his ex-girlfriend. Its so bad that he even uses the phone in her friends trailer to call her and in the meantime, cockblocks Vaughn. Anyway you get jist, the guy can't let go. He's talking about her non-stop, because he is still in love with her. While playing golf he tells his other friend, Livingston that he hasn't mentioned her once today. Vaughn together with Livingston persists in trying to get Favereau to get over his girlfriend, playing videogames, going to parties and bars. One hilarious moment is when Favereau tries to pick up this girl at a party and the first thing she asks him "is what car he drives". Favereau's reluctance to let go ultimately annoys one of Vaughn's friends who speaks the truth and calls him a "whiny little bitch who hasn't got laid in a year". Favereau then plucks up the courage to call a girl (on the same night, ignoring the 2 days industry standard) whom he picks up in a bar, only to be cut off by her answering machine many times. He continues to leave messages, telling her about his relationship and even at one point breaking up with the girl he just picked up. The girl ultimately picks and tells him not to ever call again. Favereau then slips into despair and spends 2 days in his apartment reminiscing about his girlfriend. Livingston then visits him and reminds him his glass is half full and tells him to get over his girlfriend. Its only when Livingston recounts his break up experiences, that Favereau finally wakes up. He then goes out with the guys and back on the game, where he picks up the gorgeous, young Heather Graham at a bar. If you just broke up with your girl (no guy admits he's been dumped) then you should watch his. It may not ease the pain, but hopefully it will wake you up.

Fantastic movie only you can answer the question to buy the HD version.
Swingers is a phenomenal movie from the 90's that reflects the part of the style of the time. More importantly it show a guys perspective of a break up and then trying to get back into dating. You have probably see this movie already so you know this stuff so the real question would be should you spend the money on the HD version. So the HD movie, yeah its not really HD it looks like the DVD I have. Im not disappointed, I own the movie on DVD but really didnt want to leave my bed to find it that night. Your not going to get improved quality in this so it will just come down to do you want to have a disc floating around or buy the streaming version? Only you can answer that part. If you havent seen this movie. SEE IT. Its Favreau and Vaughn at some of their best, they were money then and they didnt know it. Oh and be prepared to cringe in horror for the answering machine scene.

i shouldn't love this movie
i shouldn't love this movie. for 3/4 of the film I hated it, almost. but i wanted to see how it would end. so i had to concede the story and characters had me hooked. i'm an old school soul sister, alright? this is definitely a "guy" film in the best sense of the word. a white guy culture film for sure--and on the money sweet. very natural acting. realistic to the utmost possible. believable and honest and sincere. no pretensions. the characters are pretentious because they're supposed to be. average guys trying to seem hip and cool. any guy of any race could relate. i could relate because this film showed how guys think and feel during a breakup and how their friends support them. very funny in the last 30% of the film. priceless. i'm so glad i hung in to the last portion of the film. well worth it in every way. the first comment on this page nails all the reasons one should watch this film. thought i'd add my two cents.

Why were they friends with Mikey?
The first time I saw Swingers was at a screening in Chicago before it was released. Before we went into the theater there was this guy standing outside who just seemed cool somehow. It of course turned out to be Vince Vaughn and, although he was unknown, he stood out in the crowd as he did in the movie. I had not seen the movie in 15+ years and I noticed this time around that I really disliked Mikey. What's to like about this guy? He's not fun or funny, he's a constant wet blanket who ruins everyone's fun, he never stops complaining, he has nothing going for him but he STILL acts cocky and superior to the various women he meets. I was actively rooting against him. Mikey sucks. Luckily all of the other performances save the movie. Plus, it has a heavy dose of nostalgia and I love a good indie film success story. Can we make a special edition that removes Mikey and is just the other guys having fun?

I would return it if I could.
My husband was sitting next to an American Airlines pilot on a flight back from LA recently who said he loved this movie. I like all of these actors. But this is a total snooze. Vince Vaughn plays the same part he always does: carefree, best friend party guy, who knows something we all don't, or is privy to more details than the rest of us. They talk like various members of the Rat Pack throughout the movie and its irritating as @&?# ! "Vegas Baby, Vegas" over and over again.

Got a mate moping too long over a lost love ? Then this is the movie for you gather a few mates round hand them a beer sit them down and turn on the movie. If your mates invite you round and you are handed a beer and this is put on you know you been moping too long. Very funny movie and you know are under no illusions from the start and what has got to be the greatest cringe answer phone scene which will have you screaming" Noooooooooooooo" stop at the screen. lol
