The case is thick leather with waxed nylon stitching and a strong snap on the flap to secure the knife. The knife is not spring assisted, having a thumb screw for opening it and it is a lock back knife. The pictures do not do the knife justice. Greatly layered Damascus with finely filed brass fittings. Be advised that the knife is razor sharp, so be careful when unwrapping it from the shipping materials. And I do mean razor sharp. I could go on and on, but seeing and holding this knife is better than me rambling. Well worth the price. You will not be disappointed. Review: Nearly there. - The handle rivets weren't flush with the handles, so they snag on fabric, and scratch my palm. The tang notch for the spring lock is not deep enough for the spring to seat in, so the blade doesn't lock. The handle material was unfinished toward the bolster. The steel at the bolster has burs that catch fabric as well. However, with a small file, some sand paper, and polish, will be remedied. It is otherwise a great knife.
