Those gouges that I photographed are awful. If this was a luxury item it would be a fail in the finish department, but since it is to make nice little blocks with my soil mix, or to say it another way, to play in the mud the finish is just fine. Five stars. It's a tool that is really smooth operating. The little scratches I'm crying about are my obsessiveness. Feel free to ignore. Have a nice day. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good little gadget. Does what is says. And it's fun *by J***A on April 3, 2021* Works pefectly. If you are following the original soil block recipe, just omit the perlite. These are really tiny. The only seeds i would recommend for the mini blocker are peppers and tomatoes. It is great for space saving during germination. But to be honest, tomatoes sprout pretty quickly so it feels like it just takes more time because of needing to pot up right away. I was thinking maybe i will just do it with peppers next year since the super hots can take more time to germinate.But here is the other issue with that. They dry out quickly. Water generously EVERY day. I had days where everything looked moist and i dont want to cause mold or algae to grow so I'd wait till the afternoon. Big mistake. Even the ones that were watered daily, some of the middle sections in my 1020 tray did not make it at all. So next year i think i will stick with the 2" blocks to start all plants. Way less issues with drying out, less time making soil blocks to pot up. I heat pads but honestly can probably get away with just keeping the bedroom/ grow room warm. Since my house holds too much heat and those grow lights make my house feel like a sauna.I'd say my issues would not be a problem if you are only growing for your home garden. But i am starting a nursery. So i have 1000s of plants going.
