I try to be as animated as possible while reading to help pique her interest in books, so with each character I use a different voice to read their dialogue. Lisbon has to wait for dinner, and the neighborhood animals are so sweet as to offer her a bite of THEIR dinner. Our favorite part is Rocky the dog, I use a deep happy sounding, scruffy voice to bring his character life. "What we need is a hedgehog!" This book has us laughing and giggling together before we have lights out, so glad I stumbled across this book! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ~~Illustrations are excellent...as is the text~~ *by S***. on Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2019* The author states that this book is for ages 2 to 7 and grades P to 3.The first thing I noticed was how excellent the illustrations are throughout this book. I love it when they are bright and colorful as I think they help to hold the attention of the little ones.In addition to the illustrations, Lisbon, the little girl, is hungry. Not time for the meal at her home so she goes in search of food. Little did she realize when she started her trek, but although the animals tried....she really didn't like their offerings! Bugs, a mouse, and some dog good from Rocky (looks like my dog...) .At least the animals were trying to share although Lisbon did not like their offerings... She finally went home and dinner was ready....chicken, rice, salad and even some ice cream for dessert.At the end of the book there is an activity page for the little ones. Always like those for the children as they get to go back through the book and see if they are able to find the items.Most highly recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ children's book *by T***S on Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2019* Lisbon tummy was making all kinds of racket.Mom assured her dinner was almost ready/Mom suggested Lisbon go outside & play & she would call her when it was ready.A bird up in the tree offered her something to eat.The black bug was not her thing.Cupcake (cat) dove into a bush & offered Lisbon a mouse.Rocky the neighbor’s dog offered to catch Lisbon a hedgehog.Better yet brown crunchy nuggets from the dog bowl.She met Jordan (BMF) on the way home. Only an honest one.A very awesome book cover, great colored pictures & proper font & writing style. A very well written children’s adventure story book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s adventure movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series.
