It means that they can make the walls a bit thinner, because titanium retains good strength with thinner walls, thus eliminating that much more overall weight. Titanium isn't indestructible, tho. If you drop this bottle on a sharp rock it's going to dent. So, don't do that. -Leaking cap? I've had mine full of water, flipped upside down for the last hour... No leak. I'll leave it overnight just to make sure. If you leave any water-filled object in the sun the rising temperature of the water creates pressure (ever heard of a steam-engine). The seal can fail (and should) if the liquid inside begins rising in temperature. That being said, one of the great things about this bottle is you can put hot liquids in it... and even boil water in it. It's not insulated so don't expect those liquids to stay hot, but at least you don't have the worries of leaching chemicals like with a Nalgene... Just sayin. -Bad lid? The lid squeaks. This is your warning... it is a slightly dull metal-on-metal sound. It's not loud, nor jarring. It just is. It doesn't bother me in the least. The threads on my cap and bottle are great and I haven't had any issue with cross-threading... not even sure it would allow it, beings that it's such a tight fit. The cap threads are polished metal, the inside of the mouth is the same matte finish. I haven't had mine long enough, but my guess is that over time it will get smoother and smoother, until one day there is virtually no sound. If not, I'll update this post. It holds water without leakage, thanks to the removable gasket, and is extremely light. Lighter than my old plastic bottle. It looks great and is quite versatile for out in the backcountry. I'm a huge fan of titanium, I can cook with it, carry it without adding on much weight, and don't have to worry about plastic entering my system when using. Not too worried about it, but something to note. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best water bottle yet *by C***W on September 11, 2014* These titanium water bottles with the titanium cap are my favorite bottles ever! At 3.9oz they are the lightest non-plastic option I can find. I've also found that stainless steel will impart a taste to the water after being in the bottle a few hours whereas I can't taste anything but water even after 24 hours in a titanium bottle. There was a review left mentioning that the bottle isn't 100% titanium but something called Ilmenite. I don't believe this reviewer knows what they're talking about. Look up Ilmenite on Wikipedia. Ilmenite is a raw ore that is mined...nothing can be made from raw ore. This ore is made into titanium which is just as pure as any other titanium as far as I can tell after a good deal of research. I have one for water and one for hot drinks or beverages like Emergen-C to flavor water for variety on the trail. I can heat up water right on my stove in the bottle and then put in a couple tea bags, Java Juice, or soup packet. The ones I've bought from Vargo and Vayue have been great. I saw Knife Country had them on sale for less than I've ever seen them and decided to get another. Unfortunately, the cap on the one from Knife Country was a few mm shorter than my other 2 and wouldn't seal the bottle properly. Since the Vargo bottle should all be exactly the same, it makes me wonder if Knife Country got some fake bottles in and is selling them at a discount.
