**Q: how do you know if it fails? If it sticks open the filter can become contaminated. If it clogs the waste waster cant be purged**
A: You can periodically disconnect your RO drain line and check that it is flowing while the RO is operating. There is no simple way to check if the back-flow prevention has failed, you could disconnect it and reverse it momentary to see if it blocks your drain flow during your service. Failure in the check valve component is very rare in our experience.
